Close to University hospital

Posted Nov 14, 2014
Pros: Very clean. Nice breakfast selection. Hot chocolate and various teas,i.e. the camomile tea. Shuttle rides to the airport, hospital, & the Bayside area
Cons: Add a jacuzzi. Use more than 1 van to shuttle guests from the airport. It's a long wait if you've just missed the ride. Offer steamed veggies on menu.
Location: Location is close to the University of Miami hospital. Not a lot to do nearby, however the metro-rail station is in walking distance.
Overall, I would come back. I do like the shuttle rides to the airport, hospital, & bayside areas. However, the wait on a shuttle can be long. It took 45 minutes for the shuttle to pick me up from the airport. This doesn't happen every time. Also, they only do pick-ups from the hospital on scheduled times. On the first day, I happen to finish up and called to request a ride and they said the next pick up wasn't until 7pm. It was only 6:15. Again I had to wait or walk in the dark...which I did for the next two days. Last time I stayed, the hotel staff did not make me wait. As soon as the shuttle dropped off the passengers, it came right away to get me. Guess they are trying to keep to a schedule now. The breakfast is good. Nice to see the variety. Fresh pineapple was very good. Apples at the check-in desk were nice too. Room was clean. Love the comfortable beds. The small things matter to me. For instance, not only does the hotel have coffee, but some of us are not coffee drinkers so it is nice to see the hot chocolate and the variety of tea bags. The 1311 hotel restaurant menu has some tasty items. Love the sweet potato fries. Salads are great. The Cuban sandwich is my favorite. The menu would only improve if the restaurant would offer a side of steamed veggies.

A good hotel on a busy street

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: The price was good for the Miami area, rooms were clean, and staff friendly and helpful. The location was good for people coming from out of town.
Location: It is close to the airport and thus a good place to stay if you have an early morning flight. You have to drive a bit to do anything interesting.
My stay was for only one night. The neighborhood was not safe for a walk alone in the evening to go to a nearby drugstore. The staff were helpful, the meeting room was good and had what we needed. You get some road noise from the expressway. The room was clean, well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was fine. Fresh coffee was available at all times and was good.

Ideal for visits to the medical center

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Location: Not much nearby in terms of restaurants.
This hotel is ideal for people visiting the medical center (5 minute walk). Staff are pretty friendly and the rooms are decent. The general area is lacking though (no places to eat in the evening).

Good accommodations - hospital access

Posted Nov 1, 2014
Spring hill provides airpor pick up and drop off and hospital pick up and drop offs - two services that were FREE and CRUCIAL For an international visitor to Jackson Memoral Hospital. Not needing to worry about transport made it easier to focus on the medical care we came to receive. The continental breakfast was good and consistent and the staff are very accommodating. Overall good experience. I've been to the hotel three times and a fourth trip may be necessary.

Works Well For An Overnight Stay Before Cruise

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: Convenience, location, shuttle to port, free breakfast
Location: This hotel is located near the airport and the Port of Miami, so it's a great choice when heading out on a cruise.
We stayed overnight here before getting on a cruise out of the Port of Miami. We were able to check in late, have free breakfast the next morning, and take a shuttle right to the port. Everyone was very helpful, and that made things easy for us. This hotel is located close to the airport and the port. The price was right for a quick overnight stay.

Rude staff, terrible shuttle service.

Posted Oct 19, 2014
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Staff are rude, shuttle is pathetic.
Location: If you want to stay near a dodgy area, this hotel is for you!
We had to call three times to get a shuttle from the airport that arrived 55 mts after we set foot on the curb to wait, and as we're travelling internationally, these were expensive phone calls! The driver appeared in their hotel van that is very old, dirty and scraped up on the sides due to some accident, and the driver was full of excuses as to why they weren't running every 30 mts as promised. She said bomb scare, which is unusual considering that ALL of the other hotel shuttles were running properly, including Sofitel's that came around 3x during the time that we waited, as well as the other Marriott burgundy bus that went around 3x as well to pick up their guests. The only one with the bomb issue was ours, so a highly implausible excuse. Upon arriving finally at 10pm, we were told that the kitchen had just closed, so we starved. We waited 40mts for the extra bedding for the registered extra guest for our room (our child) and was told that we had to make up the bed, using the dirty looking sofa bed in the room, as the hotel staff does not prepare this ahead of time, nor help you, the guest. We had needed a pillow and top sheet in order to make up the bed, and we had to justify to the night checkin person why only one bottom sheet and used blanket isn't sufficient as bedding for our child. Shabby treatment, this is a 3 star at best with rude staff. Don't bother to stay here if you have pride and dignity.

Ok hotel. Don't expect too much.

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Room was renovated and new but despite being a "non smoker" room it stank of smoke. Pretty noisy, college kids running around the hallways at 1 am, staff didn't seem bothered. Otherwise the staff was friendly and room would have been great if not so "smelly".

I was very upset that as a PAYING Guest at the hotel that I had to pay $15.00 A DAY for parking, I was never given or told that I had the option that I could park on the street!! I was very upset that the hotel did not budge!
