Staff were super nice but the place is out-of-date and over-priced

Nice hotel with beach access.

Posted Feb 4, 2015
Pros: It was Art Deco and the whole area is wonderful. Everything is within walking distance -
Cons: Brighten the hallway on the second floor with better lighting and paint. Elevator was original which is nice but on the dark side.
Location: Location was perfect. Close to Lincoln Mall - closed to traffic. Lots of eating places to choose from. Lots to do and see.
The grounds front and back are beautiful, very private. Pool gorgeous. Lobby and room updated. But the hallway and elevator need updating and lighting was on the dark side. Our room was good and had a beautiful view of pool. King bed very comfy. Easy access to beach. Secured entry from the beach to hotel grounds. Staff were just great and accommodating. We arrived - after flying all night - at the hotel at 9:30 a.m. We had requested an early check in - not knowing if we would get it this or not - but they were most accommodating and giving us a room right away. Food too expensive - We ate only once for breakfast a pool side. For eggs, bacon, potato and toast was $55. And it was not very hot. We ate elsewhere for half the price. The nice restaurants for dinner were plenty to choose from and prices fine, similiar to our pricing at home.

Overall nice hotel - but room are very old!

Posted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: The lobby area has lots of sitting areas, restaurant was good and pool and beach area are great.
Cons: Rooms need a major remodel. Raleigh directed us for massages at SLS hotel next door, but that is NOT A SPA. The massages were done in hotel room.
Location: Location is great - can walk everywhere. The beach area in front of hotel is really nice/wide part of beach unlike other parts off Collins.
Stayed here for a trip with girlfriends in our 40's and we wanted something that was in a good location, on the beach, nice pool area. The rooms were sort of our last consideration, and the hotel met our needs with the overall facilities. It has a nice retro vibe with service poolside, nice restaurant, the coffee bar in lobby etc. However, people in our group were surprised that for the price, the rooms were so old. They have not been updated in decades. Even the locks are with old keys (and you are encouraged to leave keys at front desk). The walls were a bit thin (could hear neighbors). They did have nice ceiling fans and were clean and well-kept (robes, tote bags to bring to pool, etc). So while the lower quality of the rooms did not impact our stay, if you are looking for modern /updated rooms, this is not for you. But the location, lobby area, pool, restaurant, overall vibe was very nice for us (mellow, not "hip"). Service was solid. Overall we really liked, and many people in our group thought it was really charming. Just depends what you are looking for if it is for you. From the guest around us, it seemed like a lot of couples

Terrible wifi. Otherwise great.

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Decor and staff
Cons: Wifi
It is a beautiful hotel. Staff is super attentive and friendly. Everything clean and rooms are nicely decorated. Location is great and food is also good. The only big problem is their wifi. Slow, at best. Connection was intermitent, resulting in lost facetime calls, not ability to watch youtube, and long times for email or web pages to load. This, I believe, is unacceptable nowadays.

Caro e quartos muito antigos. Quem for alérgico, nem tente. O prédio eh bonito mas precisa de uma boa reforma. Não vale o preço que cobra. Somente a localização eu muito boa.

Great staff and location

I found the staff at the Raleigh to all be extremely friendly and professional and helpful at all times. It is are to be happy with everyone you deal with in a hotel! The hotel itself is a lovely mix of the old and the new and is in a superb location.

Best pool, but some things to improve on

Posted Nov 25, 2014
I love the Raleigh. I have come here a couple times now. But there are something's to improve on. The bellmen and pool staff were great. Always attentive and helpful. The front desk and coffee shop, not so much. Love the lobby and hotel design but the bathrooms in the rooms are pretty terrible. Leaking showers, etc. The girls serving you your $8 coffee in the morning have more interest in complaining about their job and coworkers than paying attention to the customers. It was like this every morning. We had an unfortunate incident that happened to us too. We got got penalized $75 for loosing a key to our room. I will take responsibility for this but the way the front desk staff handled it was pretty bad. I went out for a run in the morning and turned my key in at the front desk per their suggested policy. I didn't pick it up again when I returned as I knew my husband was in the room. We turned in the other key at check in but then they didn't have the key I thought I originally turned in at the front desk. They refused to check the cubby holes to see if they had misplaced it and were pretty much rude about the whole situation. So next time I will keep my key on me even though it isn't advised. All in all, I will stay there again and would recommend it to others with a disclaimer that the staff attitude could be improved upon. It really is a great hotel with an awesome design and a fantastic pool. But this trip did leave a bad taste in my mouth.
