“Horrible beach. Overpriced everything. Service good.”

My wife and I were very disappointed. The beach is one of the worst I've ever been too, and we've been all over. It is very narrow. The water is shallow here, so the waves are very small, which is ok if you don't care about waves. But, it also means that there is a huge kelp bed right off the beach and seaweed is constantly washing onshore. In fact, there was a two-foot high wall of washed up seaweed streching the entire length of the beach. And it stank! They keep a tractor there to plow it around, but there is no place to plow it too. My guess is that this is present year round, since they even have a card in each room explaining about the seaweed. We complained about the guests in the next room being drunk and slamming doors. The hotel was gracious and gave us a new room and a large credit to use at the restaurants. Plus, they gave us a free bottle of champagne when we arrived. Hotel service was great in this regard. The Dune restaurant was wonderful. They only serve burgers, but many kinds. It is on the sand, yet very nice. The Mexican cantina was awful. Don't even bother with that. The Ciopinno restaurant was nice, but we only went for the breakfast buffet. The drinks were outrageously priced everywhere. Seventeen dollars for a frozen drink was about the norm. Grounds were beautiful, except the beach. This is a nice hotel. But, for the money and reputation of Ritz, I expected much better.

Went to the Bayside mall on the water. It was much like Haborplace in Baltimore but seemed a little older. It was okay. Also went to Gibralter restaurant, which was very nice.

It was exactly what we expected, the best of the best, a true 5 star. Everything from the staff, the room and view, restaurants, spa, hotel grounds, it was perfection. Please go if you want to pamper yourself.

    “Good, But Not Great”

I've stayed at Fairmonts, and now the Ritz. I was a little disappointed that the Ritz did not live up to the Fairmont experience: there was just one trash can in the room, no Guest Services guide to be found, and the a/c made a terrible banging sound periodically. It sounds like nit-picking...well, except the noise...but for the price you pay, the room ought to be in impeccable condition and impeccably appointed.

    “Miami/Key Biscayne Best Hotel”

We love to be pampered and this hotel was right on the mark. Our room was on the top 14th floor with a beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony. The room service was outstanding, maid service twice per day, which really impessed us,very friendly and professional staff. The night before our departure there was a knock on the door the maid had a white china heart shaped plate in her hand with chocolate covered strawberries and a personal written letter hoping we had a pleasant stay at the Ritz, needless to say we were very impressed. The only draw back was the seaweed on the beach that accumulated twice per day even after they raked it in the morning.

    “Beyond Expectations!”

Wonderful from start to finish. We celebrated our daughter's 6th birthday there and the staff made our celebration extra special. Our daughter received special treatment from every staff member she encountered from special balloons and an ice cream treat at the pool,to a special surprise of cake and balloons waiting in our room! She loved every minute of it. We will return as soon as our schedule allows! A fantastic hotel with superb staff clearly customer service orientated.

    “Ready to Return”

Very quiet yet convenient location. The entire staff is very friendly and always ready to meet your every request. Excellent concierge services. Really enjoyed the adult pool and the adjacent outdoor DUNES bar and eating venue right on the beach. Very secluded yet only 15 minutes to downtown Miami, 20 minutes to Miami Beach/South Beach, and 20 minutes to Coral Gables. Prices for parking, food, and drinks are high but given the overall satisfaction and enjoyable stay they are tolerable. This was our second visit and would definitely return.

    “Fantastic trip!!!”

Where to start...have been to RC properties before but first time at the KBRC.Have planned this trip for several monthes..read ALL the reviews. The room was the bomb..get the ocean front suite..it was fantastic..spectacular views, great flat screen in both rooms and the bed...sooo comfortable. Several reviewers complained about the beach, being too crowded and heavy with seaweed. The beach was anything but...super service from the RC staff, setting up umbrellas and loungechairs..always attentive..they clean the beach off each morning like it was a bunker at Pebble...now each afternoon around 330 or so the tide does bring in some seaweed...but nothing that would keep you out of the water or away from such a relaxing view. The sand is fine and easy on the feat..not too coarse. But if the beach is not your style then choose between two different style of pools. The first is a larger, family oriented version or the adult only pool where the only sound you here is the calming spa like music drifting from the DUNE beachside bungalow bistro.Speaking of the Dune...you must get the kobe sliders...out of this world. Now i will tell you that its pricey...were talkin $15-$25 drinks alone..the sliders are $28...but again your at the Ritz,on the beach in Key Biscayne. Put another way...spend a little less $ and take a cruise...when your done your worn out. After 5 days at KBRC...give me the realaxed, refreshed, pampered, never want for nothin trip we just took any day....we will DEFINITELY be back!
