Average hotel in need of some carePosted Nov 30, 2013
Great location, close to beach, Lincoln rd shops, lots of bars and very good restaurants nearby. But, some hotel staff were not overly helpful, rooms had potential, they were large with good facilities, but very dark, with stained curtains, not as clean as they should be. Breakfast was poor, again good selection if you were there at 7am but any later than 8am and most stuff was gone and you had to ask several staff to have hot water topped up, for more juice, etc and if you weren't lucky enough to get a yogurt then tough! We asked the reception staff to book us a restaurant one night and he told us to do it ourselves! Not the best service! Best thing about this place is the fact that Ola restaurant is on site and this place is incredible, food and service impeccable as well as cleanliness-the hotel could learn a thing or two from the restaurant owners (and they are completely separate owners).

Gorgeous little boutique hotel in a great locationPosted Nov 24, 2013
Fantastic hotel with proximity to beach shopping and nightlife. It would have been a perfect 5, if they had a fitness facility. Need to use the one at the sister property a block away. But definitely one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in

Nice quiet hotel near the beach and shoppingPosted Nov 19, 2013
Pros: The roof top area is nice to sit and relax in the sun
Cons: The roof top could be improved as far as accommodations, there should be trash cans up there.
Location: There are plenty of restaurant choices close by also lots of shopping in walking distance.
This was a very nice hotel, it was quiet and relaxing but very close walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. There is also a very nice restaurant in the hotel. The breakfast was a light breakfast but very good. The best part about the hotel is the roof top where you can relax and read, or take a relaxing sit in the roof top swimming pool.

Good location, could do with a refurbPosted Nov 19, 2013
Pros: The location is great, good sized rooms and nice bathroom and bedroom.
Cons: Access to a beach club that still exists! Room was good but the living area needed a refurb and a number of lights were out. Maid service wasn't great
Location: Very close to the beach. Lincoln road is perfect place for nights out and only a few minutes away.
Nice apartment hotel but our living area could have done with a refurb and the rooms were quite dimly lit, made worse by a number of broken bulbs. There is a kitchenette but with no cutlery or plates, glasses, kettle etc so a bit pointless. bedroom and bathroom areas were a good size and well furnished. Great location, just minutes walk from the beach and Lincoln Road. We were told on check in that we could use the facilities at K17 beach club but on being unable to find it were told by someone working nearby that it no longer exists which meant we had to pay for loungers from another hotel beach club. The maid service was poor, first day we were out 11-5 and on our return they were cleaning the room, on the second day we were out 12-5 and they hadn't cleaned by our return so we ended up telling them not to bother. The pool is TINY so if you want a pool, I wouldn't stay here. We got a good deal through Expedia so not too disappointed but we would be had we paid full price.

Cons: A nice magnifying mirror in the bathroom would be nice.
I loved the whole experience there. When you walk to your room there is a gentle waterfall with a beautiful Zen feel with the bamboo trees. It made me feel more relaxed and less stressed. The rooms are big and mine had a kitchen in it with microwave and frig. The bath room has this wonderful deep bathtub with the rain shower that feels wonderful. I will back to this hotel. The people that work there are also pleasure to be with. Loretta

Cockroach InnPosted Nov 2, 2013
Pros: Papa Johns will deliver there.
This was probably the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. If you're into a very pricey restaurant, which seams to be all this hotel is about, and a place to crash once you're drunk enough not to care about the room having anything you need, this is the place for you. I have no idea how this hotel has a 4 star rating, unless staff has been rating it themselves. It looked like the room was old and they tried to make it look fancy with as little money as possible. We had a coffee maker with no coffee so I tried to call the front desk, 3 times, with no answer. I went down to the desk to see if I could get some for the room and, no kidding, my answer was, "Sure, there's a Walgreen just down the road.". That's just part of it. To end the experience with a bang, when I picked up the suitcase to leave, there was a dead cockroach under it!!! Needless to say, I don't recommend this one. That was a ton of money for one night that I can't get back.

Small and cutePosted Oct 17, 2013
Pros: The decor
Location: Nice far enough for peace close enough for access
Very quaint and posh. Small but very cute. There were a bunch of huge flies we couldn't get rid of or figure out the source. Staff was nice continental breakfast was great for what it was. Pool extremely tiny. Hotel provides you access to others amenities if you want to go outside

Very nice boutique hotel compared to many othersPosted Sep 26, 2013
Pros: Ambiance, friendly staff
Cons: Some of the appliances in the rooms (shower area, air conditioner unit) need some updating.
Location: Lincoln Road Mall was right up the street, also Collins Ave. was the next street over.
We stayed for 5 days and four nights here, and I was a bit skeptical on the purported cleanliness of the room, due to some reviews I came across after booking a room. Once I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel and room were set up nicely with trendy decor typical of nice South Beach hotels and that the room was quite clean. I brought cleaning wipes and disinfecting spray as a precautionary measure, but I didn't need to do a full wipe down of the place as previously thought. In the shower, the shower head was a bit lopsided and some of the spouts on the head would only work some of the time, but it was still usable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast was nice. The hotel is located close to Lincoln Road Mall area (within walking distance), but we had to take a cab to Ocean Dr. Also, the pool was a bit disappointing, but they did offer access to the pool at the Gale Hotel (corner of Collins and 17th?) On our last day, the air conditioner unit began dripping water profusely onto the floor around the bathroom sink which made things a little awkward when trying to get ready, but since it was the last day, we let it go. All in all, we had a good experience at Sanctuary Hotel. I could see they continue to make improvements to the hotel rooms, so we would definitely stay again knowing that the hotel seeks to make constant improvements to satisfy their guests needs as far as comfort goes.

Decent stay but not a 4 star hotel.Posted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: - Great location. Close to beach, shopping and nightlife. - Friendly, helpful staff. - Large room with separate sitting area and nice bathroom. - Good value. Rate was good for South Beach. Cons: - Really strong musty smell in the room made worse by scented cleaning products. - Terribly inadequate lighting. - Included breakfast, while a nice offering, was of poor quality. I got a good last minute deal at the Sanctuary and overall, it was a decent place to stay. I don’t consider myself a fussy traveler and I always make the best of a situation. Unfortunately the room odor and lighting made me not want to stay in the room any longer than I had to. This worked out fine for this quick trip as I didn’t need to be in the room much. Having stayed in South Beach on many occasions I have to say that this hotel rates, at best, an Expedia 3.5 star rating.
