Small rooms, bad services, nice pool & restaurant

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Good food and beverage choices at restaurant and pool. Nice pool area.
Cons: Overall customer service. Staff is rude and disorganized. Cleaning service wasn't very good.
Location: About a 15 minute walk to South Beach. Nothing else really nearby the hotel.
I have stayed at the Standard many times. The services has seemed to continually decline. Staff is too cool to seem to care about guest experience. Tried to eat dinner at the Lido restaurant, and they took 40 minutes to seat us. We just ended up eating off the small bar menu even though there were open tables the entire time we were there. The hostess asked us to remind her we were waiting for a table...that is just strange. The woman working at the coffee shop was also really rude. Rooms are small and were not very clean. The pool was nice and the pool menu is great...nice light choices for poolside eating. I will not be going back any time soon.

Heaven on Earth

My stay at the Standard was one of the most relaxing days I've had in a long time. Everything from the ambiance to the hospitality of the staff was exceptional. The room was very clean with a luxurious bed and large shower; free wifi was a huge plus; the pool was beautiful and my friends and I loved being able to sit right alongside the ocean while taking in the sun and eating delicious organic food (my only con about the experience is that this food was rather overpriced, e.g. $5 for half of a grapefruit). The spa facilities were also amazing and all of my stress from work had completely dissipated after a few hours there. We were so happy with the hotel that we didn't even bother to venture out much. This is a great getaway spot and I would highly recommend staying here.

Pros: Spa and pool
Cons: Room size TOO SMALL.
Location: Location wonderful, walking distance to Lincoln Road and over the canals toward downtown.
The spa and staff are wonderful. The pool is beautiful. The rooms are the smallest I have ever stayed in. Breakfast is taken in the lobby, not the best atmosphere.

You don't always get what you pay for.

The hotel was nice, however, for the price demanded, it did not live up to expectations. The spa and restaurants were overpriced and unfortunately, other options were too far from the hotel to frequent. Also, if you are staying here, make sure to call the hotel in advance to ask about their policy for "security deposit" upon check in. The policy was not explained to me upon check in or on the hotels.com website. It was a big surprise when my credit card was maxed because of this.
