Room Comfort

Posted Jun 1, 2014
Pros: Appearance and location
Cons: Air conditioning
Location: Lots of food restaurants and night clubs
Rooms may need a stronger air conditioning unit to combat summer heat. Were times when the room wasnt really cooling to comfort.

When I checked in I was told we were getting a room with 1 king bed rather than 2 smaller beds. I told the woman at the front desk I had booked a room with 2 beds, not one. She responded 'Expedia bookings are never guaranteed, you might have been able to request it, but Expedia bookings are NOT guaranteed.' The way she conveyed this message to me made me feel as if she didn't think I should be staying there. I've never gotten this kind of treatment before when booking with Expedia. She made me feel as if I was the annoying lady in the grocery line with a thousand coupons or the complaning restaurant-goer who is trying to get a discount. I am neither of those things. I use Expedia because it is nice to be able to book both my hotel and flight at the same time. Apparently this made me look like a cheap, unfit guest to this woman. My friend and I had to share a bed for our entire 4 night stay. When I was checking out, the hotel had charged me for parking twice in one day. When I asked about it, the front desk woman acted as if she was doing me a HUGE favor by correcting the hotel's mistake. The property is very nice, and the location is great, but my experience was totally ruined by the way I was treated.

I stayed here for business trip but my husband and daughter accompanied me. We enjoyed the friendly staff, hotel accommodations, and the great location. It's right in the heart of Coral Gables! It was wonderful walking right outside our door to Miracle Mile!

Hotel is near restaraunts and shops. Everything is in walking distance. The staff and valet were excellent. The pool area was a little small but it was never crowded.

Customer communications need to be improved

Posted Mar 30, 2014
Location: Great restaurants and shopping
Over-all a good experience. however, I booked the stay three months in advance on Expedia for a party of three. I requested two double beds, but received a confirmation with a king bed. I immediately called Expedia and the hotel directly to change the booking to two double beds, both Expedia and the hotel acknowledged my request and confirmed the request on my reservation. When I arrived for check in, I was informed that only king rooms were available and that a rollaway could be brought into the room. I was further told, this is what happens when you book a low Expedia rate, my request could not be accommodated. The Westin should have told me at booking that double beds were not guaranteed, as I would have made alternate plans. I was very disappointed by this situation and the customer experience.

Great location

Pros: location
Nice hotel, clean with friendly staff. Only drawback was a wedding reception downstairs, loud music walking through the lobby. The walls were a little thin as we could hear other guests when they came in from the wedding reception at 3 am.
