spectacular view; isolated, extremely quietPosted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: The quiet; the very helpful, caring staff; the set-up of the room. I walked in and said "This is like home!".
Cons: A stronger signal for the computer; road signs to find the place.
Location: Very remote. A rough 20-minute walk to the beach. With a car, possible to easily visit a rainforest, tour that side of the island, go shopping.
Weather did not cooperate for about half of our stay, and we did not have a car, so we got a lot of reading done. We had a computer and Internet access, although the signal was not strong. You really need a car for at least a couple of days. Pretty grounds, great bird-watching, nice pool.

Delightful find w/stunning views and no touristsPosted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: Beautiful, Atlantic Ocean views/breezes w/out unsightly tourist developments scarring the rugged hills, pleasant hostess, lovely gardens, tasty meals
Cons: The TV was tiny but if you're traveling to St. Lucia to watch TV you might want to stay home w/your 50 inch flat screen.
Location: Somewhat isolated (good or bad thing...depends) and long drive from the Pitons, good snorkeling beaches, and touristy areas of western St. Lucia
We had researched St. Lucia enough to know that the eastern Micoud area would not be particularly touristy and we were pleasantly rewarded at Fond Bay Suites by having the entire place to ourselves--no kids on this trip, just 2 adults. The views of an undeveloped, Atlantic Ocean bay complete w/rocky cliffs from our suite and the breakfast/pool area were wonderful and the steady ocean breezes were appreciated. It is a significant, 20 min. walk down to the beach, but once you're down there, we had the coconut palm lined beach to ourselves. I swam, but my wife did not--it's warm enough but the waves and rocks are not for timid or poor swimmers. The pool at Fond Bay was small but nice. Elesia was a wonderful hostess; she gave us all the autonomy that we wanted for our 20th anniversary get away, yet was available to cook wonderful dinners or breakfasts for 2 as we requested. We are fairly adventurous travelers and this place suited us perfectly as we took local buses or hitchhiked around the island for 5 days. If you're looking for lots of other tourists, souvenir shops or anything remotely similar to a massive all-inclusive, Fond Bay is not for you. If you want a well-kept, affordable, small, clean, suite surrounded by beautiful gardens in a higher end residential-type setting away from other tourists--this place would suit you well. If you're not comfortable w/the efficient, cheap local buses we would probably suggest renting a car if you stay here.

Fond Bay, MicoudPosted Mar 7, 2012
Pros: The best part of our stay was the location and the view from the backyard patio.
Cons: It was difficult to contact hotel host/staff during the day.
Location: It was in the country, overlooking a cliff down to Fond Bay
Quiet countryside suite, hostess wass friendly. Local bus service was easy to use. Very mountainous and green island. The deep sea fish dinners were excellent!

Ahhh...just what the doctor ordered!Posted Mar 1, 2012
Pros: Ocean view, peaceful, perfect bed, perfect hostess.
Can't say enough good things. Looking for a quiet, gorgeous getaway, and this was it. Elecia was a wonderful hostess who made you feel like family, but was sensitive to your desired level of privacy. She was also helpful with locations and activities, and was also interested in ways to continue to make guests' stays even more enjoyable. If you want true, "Simply Beautiful" St. Lucia, away from "Americanized" commercialization, yet a convenient drive to the attractions and shopping, treat yourself to Fond Bay Suites.

Gorgeous but dangerously secludedPosted Jul 15, 2011 on Hotels.com
The hotel itself is gorgeous, overlooking an undeveloped beach. However, the beach should not be visited due to the fact that wild pigs live in the flora behind the beach! We stayed in the beginning of June, a perfect time to stay at the hotel if you are on a budget. However, we quickly found out that the hotel could not provide the food and drinks that it had on the menu due to "low season." This is normally not a problem if you can walk to a nearby store, but the nearest store is about a 20 min walk down/uphill on a road that is surrounded by fauna that has wild pigs (yes, we heard them). Additionally, there is no land line in the rooms and guests are provided with a cell phone. The only problem is that our phone had a 0.00 credit and we were expected to top it off at the store, even to make a simple phone call to the receptionist (which was not staying at premises). Bottom line: rent a vehicle if staying at the hotel.

Forge your own path from Fond BayPosted Feb 24, 2011
Fond Bay Suites was a great place to stay at and we would recommend it to anyone coming to St. Lucia who would like an experience off the beaten path. There was a fantastic view of the bay from the property and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The manager went out of his way several times to ensure our needs were met. Public transportation was a 10-minute walk from the property. While the remoteness of the hotel provided for a less typical tourist experience, it was occasionally an inconvenience because it took 30-45 minutes to get to any major city. Overall, we would highly recommend the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent if this is what you want.Posted Jan 23, 2011
We planned a fortnight in St Lucia, with the first week spent walking in the rain forest and along the Atlantic coast, and the second idling in a luxurious all-inclusive on the Caribbean side. So we selected Fond Bay carefully, knowing that it was isolated and remote. In this respect it met our needs entirely. The proprietor, Ross, was very helpful with information about routes and transport . We did not want to hire a car, and were quite happy to walk 20 minutes to the main road, where it is easy to catch a minibus (cheap and interesting too - few tourists use them, and it is a rare chance to chat informally to St Lucians). We also walked various headlands as well as down to Fond Bay beach itself. The suites have a very small pool, with just room enough for one person at a time to swim, so we took turns. It needs a lot of lengths! At 24 hours' notice, Ross will cook food from a 3-option menu. This was fine, and necessary because there were no cooking pans provided in the flat. There is also an option of pizza, which we had once. This was a mistake, as it comes from Vieux Fort and so is cold when it arrives, and we had no means of heating us. Luckily some guests in one of the rooms with a microwave helped us out, otherwise I would have been extremely annoyed. So a great place, if you want what it offers. More pre-arrival information on the catering limitations is needed, though. It costs US$25 to have a grocery delivery, and having items pre-ordered would be a help.

A quiet place to relaxPosted Apr 23, 2009
We went to St Lucia for our honeymoon, and Fond Bay Suites proved to be a nice, quiet place to relax with a gorgeous view of Fond Bay. It's a little bit removed from civilization, so be prepared to rent a car so you can get around the island easily. Ross, the manager, was very friendly and helpful. St Lucia is a place of incredible beauty and well worth visiting.

Beautiful, Far and AwayPosted Dec 6, 2007
The place is beautiful and the grounds are very well maintained and Ross took great care to make sure that we were taken care of in every respect. He had a driver for us, Linus, who also gave us a tour of various areas of the island. Linus was excellent and so sweet. Ross was very hospitable and recommended alot of places for us to go and suggested a schedule for us if we wanted. I recommend Fond Bay for those who want seclusion, quiet, and a place out of the way of general tourists. It is an hour away from Castries so be sure to fly into the other airport and don't make the same mistake we did. We stayed in St. Lucia for 5 days and it was just enough. Thank You Linus and Ross for showing us a great time.
