Friendly welcome. Excellent attentive service. Owners made us feel welcome immediately. Relaxing. Perfect location for mountains and other outdoor activities. No phone signal though at hotel and intermittent Wireless in lounge.

Not my idea of a great place to stay

Posted Oct 3, 2012
Cons: Dreary, dated.
The hotel needs a facelift inside. The hotel is on the river, which is nice, but it seemed quite dreary. It seemed as if an air freshener had been used to mask a musty odor or something. It was not as clean as I would have liked. I like crisp, white sheets but the beds had lavender, wrinkled ones. The manager was friendly and accomodating, but the hotel needs some work. The breakfast was fair, but I haven't had instant coffee at a hotel in a long time. I wouldn't stay here again.

Quiet Life

Posted Jul 18, 2012 on Hotels.com
We wanted a weekend "away from it all" N thats exactly what we got ! Complete stillness no streetlights glaring in the night, no traffic noise , the river rippling, birds chirppin and the odd distant sheep BAA! This hotel is ideal for a QUIET break. We couldnt get a fone signal n didnt mind at all , no one could get in touch with us. It was brilliant to be isolated.Food was fantastic , not overly priced. Definitley going back again.

Dolbrodmaeth Hotel - Peace and Serenity!

Posted Aug 24, 2011 on Hotels.com
An all-around great experience at this property. A friendly welcome and showing of our room. We had pre-booked dinner meals, which were excellent and very well received by all! We only saw 2 members of staff during our stay, but they were fantastic and couls not do enough to make us feel welcome! The room was very comfortable, although bathtub a bit small. Some would say the hotel needs an update, but we felt it was fine as is. The whole idea of such a place is to help people to relax and feel welcome, which we certainly did! Many thanks!

Dolbrodmaeth Riverside Hotel - past its prime?

Posted Jul 19, 2011 on Hotels.com
As much as I would like to love & support all family owned businesses, i must say that our stay was not 100% perfect. We arrived a bit early for the checkin (should be 2pm) but got allowed to our room anyway. We left the hotel just after for a hike to see that all staff was gone and a sign was taped on the door "checkin 3pm". This is surprising to see that guests could come within the normal opening hours and be expected to wait for the hotel to open an hour later? The overall presentation of the hotel is not up to date and the first room we have been assigned was clearly not up to the taste of modern leisure travelers (an avocado en suite, in 2011? Really?). We got upgraded -against payment of the difference- to a better room which was OK. The shared areas are clearly ageing and a clean up/refurbishment would be beneficial. The breakfast was correct although I am not too keen on instant coffee. A real filter coffee is a much more pleasant way to start the day. Be aware that the breakfast is only served within a 1hr period so better get the alarm on! We have not tried to eat dinner on the premises, although there is a small restaurant on site. Business conscious travelers should be warned that the mobile and blackberry will not work iin the valley and there was no landline phone in the room... You can find a pay phone in the reception says the hotel booklet. I hope this review helps you choose your accommodation in this great region. Nothing particularly wrong with this hotel but I would suggest the owners consider a good refurbishment and throw a new lease of life in the place.
