"A wonderful hotel, idyllic location, amazing staff"
We have been bitterly disappointed with the quality of the hotels in Aberystwyth and the huge prices charged for indifferent - sometimes quite nasty - accomodation. But having stayed at Nanteos Mansion, we have at last found THE place to stay and we will never choose to stay elsewhere in the town. It is beautiful, ideally located for ease of access to the town. Peaceful and relaxing, with the most welcoming and friendly staff of any hotel in the area. The room was lovely and the facilities excellent. All guests are given a pot of tea on arrival - we had ours in the garden and we just felt from that moment that we never wanted to leave. There is no sea view but it is simply not needed - you have a view of the lake and countryside and the early morning birdsong with no traffic noise more than makes up for it. If you are staying in Aberystwyth - don't bother looking elsewhere. Naneos Mansion is just perfect.

"Great Country House Hotel look and feel"
Booked this based on other reviews and was not disappointed. Some road noise as I had a room very close to the road. But room was comfortable and good shower given this is a very old building. Food was good, both evening meal and breakfast. I was touring by motorbike and arrived quite late, but managed to get a meal, just. It was a Friday night and quite busy with people not staying at the hotel - always a good sign. I would stay again.

"Quaint town centre hotel."
Having been to Aberaeron before we wanted to stay near the harbour this time. We received a warm welcome from the lovely young lady on reception (in the bar) who led us to our room (Branwen) on the 2nd floor accessed only via a staircase. First impressions were that the room was pretty small but it was well decorated, seemed clean & well maintained & had the usual facilities; hairdryer, flat screen TV, tea & coffee making facilities etc. There was an odd odour from the wardrobe which meant we lived out of our cases whist we were there. Only one chair meant most of our time in the room was spent laying on the very comfortable bed. The hotel's location, at a junction on the main A487, would not normally concern us but, because the period we stayed was both warm & humid, we had to leave the window in our room open. This led to a very disturbed first night due to noise from both traffic and passers by. The management suggested a fan, enabling us to close the window, but I believe that this would have just wafted the warm air around and so didn't follow this up. There was also a fair bit of noise heard from other rooms. 2nd & 3rd nights were better! A brilliant power shower blew away the lack of sleep and helped set us up for the day. A hearty Welsh breakfast fuelled our trips out and about. There may be larger rooms at the Castle Hotel and those towards the back of the hotel would, I'm sure, suffer less from traffic noise. This may be something to be aware of when booking.

The Directions via satnav were not correct better if FULL directions had been given on booking. On arrival was met by a hoard of cyclists who stayed in a nearby bunkhouse, so I was confused as to where the entrance to the house was. In time I found the owner outside the house in the garden, all very laid-back but all I wanted was to find the room & have a shower. The room was ok the rest of the house great & the breakfast superb

"Pleasant independent hotel near Llandrindod"
Pleasant independent hotel near Llandrindod. Quiet on the Sunday night. So ate in the bar from the restauraunt, helpful staff for which nothing too much trouble, had an excellently cooked stake at a reasonable price. Lovely to have such a peaceful and quiet location both in the evening and in the morning, excellent location. Both members of staff I dealt with were very pleasant and helpful.

"Wonderful find"
Business trip and needed accommodation near Pembroke Docks but we really struggled. Finally hit upon this hotel and decided to give it a try. Excellent, very pleasant and help staff. The only downside is no evening meals are served so you have to go out to St Clear to find food.
