Stayed for 4 nights during the recent cold snap. Hotel was was warm and extremely welcoming. The staff were absolutely brilliant. We had a premier room at the back of the hotel and it was the quietest room I've ever stayed in in NYC. Riks cafe is open 24hrs for teas, coffees etc and the nightly wine and cheese is a great idea. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for good old fashioned hospitality.

Booked this hotel through Expedia and had the best experience. The hotel is beautiful very art deco and you feel like you are in The Great Gatsby. The room was huge, plush and comfortable. Did not want to leave the sumptuous bed, but its great location next to Central Park was key to visit this beautiful area, near the Museums and fantastic restaurants. On 5th Avenue so easy to walk to the shops. The staff were very helpful, always cheerful and happy to accommodate any request.

The Strand was easy to find, with great staff, very helpful, and always greeted us warmly.
When we were inquiring about a show they concierge called and found out about available seating.
A very clean hotel, nice lobby with good size rooms.
I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at fitzpatricks in November 2014. The room was clean and spacious for New York. I read reviews saying that you should stay on higher floors but we found the noise both from the bar downstairs and the street outside to be minimal, (we were on the third floor). The staff were very friendly and helpful. One waitress at dinner even explained that we had added a tip onto the bill which already had a tip included, it would've been easy to say nothing and myself and my wife admired her honesty. The barman was very good. Particularly helpful was the two concierges (is that the plural of concierge?) Garfield checked us in online before we left for our flight and was very friendly. Michael went above and beyond in that he booked trips for us, shopped for the best rates for shows and even went as far as locating a frozen snowglo doll which we wanted for our daughter for christmas ( there was only one left in New York and Michael located it, reserved it and texted us directions on how to get there)
All in all, we loved our trip and this was due in large part to the pleasant, helpful and unobtrusive staff of fitzpatricks grand central.

Hotel is only a few blocks from Penn Station, maybe 10 minute walk, and despite arriving well before check in time we were shown straight to our room. We had booked a room with 2 double beds so the room was a good size though the bathroom was rather compact. Good quality bedding and towels, mini bar in room with room to store your own bottles of water, juice, efficient heating or rather it was once we sussed out the controls, dressing gowns, and my personal favourite complementary Molton Brown toiletries.
Leaving the hotel and at the end of the street you are on 5th Ave with the Empire State in front of you. Great location, easily reached from the airport (we flew into Newark so direct train to Penn Station), and conveniently placed for all mid town attractions. Complimentary tea and cafe available 24-7. We didn't dine in as there is so much choice in the city, plus there is a cafe/deli at the end of the street, Bread & Butter, which seemed to never close and where you can dine in or carry out and they sell hot and cold food so really handy.
Would definitely consider staying here again if ever back in NYC.
