In booking our hotel, we had no idea what to expect. The desk agent, Avery, was very friendly and he made sure our stay would be a memorable one. Our room had a terrific view of the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building on one side, and the river and part of the United Nations on the other. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bath was very nice. Our trip was a great experience.

No frills, but absolutely lovely. Room simply decorated, in great taste, very up to date, and very comfortable. Quite large for what I was expecting in Times Square. Neutral color palate. great New York photos. great soundproofing: I was on 15th floor and zero street noise, had room next to elevator and no hallway noise (though could hear minimal shaft noise only in the bathroom, good design! as none at all in guest room.)
Very relaxing experience, in fact absolutely perfect for me, business traveler looking for quiet and some work time after busy day of work and social engagements. Free fast wifi, good desk space, good couch/TV space separate from this. Could also easily sleep a couple with one younger child on couch.
That said: not fancy. Minimalist lobby, staffed with one or two front desk staff who were not very experienced (but very pleasant and helpful.) No doorman, not much bellman space so occasionally luggage in lobby. Once I saw wineglasses waiting overnight in hallway to be picked up. Hallways however clean and pleasant.
I thought this hotel was an incredible value given size, decor, cleanliness and quietness of room.
