Clean but badly in need of renovations

Posted Oct 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed at this hotel because it was the closest hotel available to State College on a Penn State football Saturday. The room was clean and the area felt very safe, but the rooms were incredibly old and the entire hotel feels like it should be renovated--or demolished and replaced with a new hotel. The heat worked, the air conditioning didn't. The thermostat was so old I have never seen one that style before! No fan in bathroom, so the place was a muggy sauna as soon as we took showers. Select this hotel only as a last resort. That's what we did!

Must avoid

I might have been better off driving home in the middle of the night.

Too far

Could not get a clear answer on where this hotel was located until my GPS told me it was 43 miles from penn state. With traffic it took 1 hour 45 minutes. While staff was friendly and the room was clean it was way over priced. Especially since it was in the middle of nowhere. Shouldn't be listed as near penn state.

my stay at budget inn

Posted Apr 23, 2012
The first nite the 4 of us were unable to get the wi-fi to work, the desk didnt know what to do. My husband and I had a king room and there was only 1 (ONE) towel in the room. The air conditioner was high and i was unable to see to push any buttons, husband had to do that for me. The little packets of shampoo were next to impossible to open even when i was dry and tried to open them before i got in. The staff were extremely nice, just had those few issues...well and that who ever was at the desk didnt seem to know what to do about things and were always on the phone with someone about it ....and no outlets near the bed anywhere, I would have liked one.

The room was clean and the bathroom was old but clean. They just haven't update the tile but the sink was done. It was well kept and I would go again.

Not Impressed

Posted Oct 11, 2011
We chose this hotel because it was the cheapest hotel within an hour's radius of State College, PA on a Penn State football weekend. The staff was friendly and courteous. The room, however, was dirty. When a damp white towel was placed on one of the chairs in the hotel room, the towel became covered in dust. The curtains over the window in the bathroom appeared to have been made from a towel. They were originally white, but they had become darker with dust and grime. The bed spread was stained. The upside, no bugs, good water pressure in the shower, but we would most likely not stay here again.

good value

The hotel was not as close to State College as we would have liked, but with the short notice we were close enough. The room was very clean and well maintained. The A/C was very effective if a little noisy. Overall a nice weekend and I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

Inn of last resort

Definitely past it's prime. The room was clean, but very dated. Location was hard to find. Probably was on a main road long ago, but now is located in a economically depressed area.
