I would not stay here again

We got horrible service and the staff were not helpful at all. Our hotel key didn't work but the problem was not fixed.

Terrible Hotel

Where do I begin? We first had to change rooms because the safe didn't work. There was NO HOT WATER for the two nights we stayed there. WiFi in the room was good. Very dim lighting throughout with unpainted plaster. Breakfast was sparse with boiled eggs and bare essentials. Front desk didn't speak English. Advertising makes the hotel look like a large building; it is actually one floor of an office building. 3 blocks from the train station. Lots of street noise. If this was a 3 star hotel, I would hate to see a 1 or 2 star!

New Years Eve

My husband and I stayed here for new years eve. The price was wonderful and the location was perfect! It is roughly 2 blocks from the subway and main train station which is highly convenient. I left valuables such as jewelry, my iPad 2, high end clothing & accessories and none of it was tampered with, which speaks very well of the maid service. The water pressure in the shower and sink was great. The only problem that I had was that there were a few broken things which reflected poorly on the hotel. The hooks for the curtains were broken on both sides so that they could not fully close, the peddle to open the trash can in the bathroom was missing so you had to bend down to pull up the lid & one of the windows was broken slightly open which left the room rather cold. Other than that the price was actually cheaper than all of the available nearby hostels & the staff was very accommodating. There was also free wi-fi and a mini fridge in the room which allowed us to bring to go food back : )

Didn't sleep the entire night

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The air conditioning did not work...there was no airflow in the room. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Neither me or my spouse slept at all during the night..it was the most miserable experience. The room was clean though, so that was a good thing and it was in a convenient location near the central train station.

Gonzaga Hotal, Milan, Italy -DREADFUL

I stayed here in April 2010. It is classified as a 3 star hotel, which is a joke. On day one there was no hot water for a shower! The service was sullen and rude to say the least. The toilet seat was broken but I gave up trying to get it fixed because no one took any notice. Then they left wet towels for us to use when we returned at the end of a long day. The bed was never changed in the 6 days we stayed (I don't need my bed changed each night but I suspect this was a money saving not a planet saving exercise). The hotel claims to have internet access (at 5 euros per hour) - it did not work and I heard other guests complaining about this - the receptionist merely shrugged her shoulders and said "I'm no good with computer". But we had to visit the local internet cafe to get connected. The breakfast was miserable,croissants from a packet and not one piece of fruit. If I treated my customers like this I would be out of business!

Good Location

The staff was pretty rude and did not appear to speak English. The only thing I would suggest is that you should request to NOT have the room next to the lobby. We could hear the noise of the breakfast crowd in our room each morning. Otherwise, the hotel was in a very good location and the room was adequate.

Great location

Hotel Gonzaga is ideally located next to Milan Central station and next to the metro lines 2 and 3. The area offers a few restaurants and shops however the more central area of Duomo is only a short journey on the metro. The hotel itself is located on the third floor of the building. The rooms are very spacious and clean however the walls are quite thin, although I did not find this to be much of a problem during my stay. Overall I would be happy to return to this hotel in the future.

Man tror inte att det skulle vara ett bra hotel när man såg ingången. men när man kom in i rummet eller i korridoren fick man en ny syn på hotellet. Mycket bra. Personalen var också väldigt måna om oss. Bra frukost och ett rimligt pris. Jag rekomenderar stället.

Good location, not for the luxury-minded

I needed a hotel that was inexpensive and close to the train station so I could catch an early bus to the airport. This hotel more than fit the bill. Neither the mattress nor walls were very thick, but the room was huge and clean, the price was nice, and the staff was great, even on a Sunday night.

Good option in pricey Milan

The very best thing about this hotel is it's hop-and-a-skip proximity from the central station. It really is just two minutes down the road from it, and makes getting about Milan very easy and pleasant, especially at night when you just want to get back to your hotel as quickly and safely as possible. It was a bit pricier than we'd accounted for but having read up a lot about Milan and done my research, I figured it was money well spent - and it turned out to be just that. The rooms are clean, well-kept and adequately appointed. Our only gripe was a thunderous crashing sound that we kept hearing outside day and night. It seemed to coincide with the internal lift operating but I still don't know what caused it. It could cause the highly sensitive a problem, but after a while we just wrote it off as something we couldn't do anything about and got on with enjoying the holiday. Breakfast is fine - the usual unimaginitive continental selection of synthetic cereals, meat, cheese, rolls, and oddly-filled croissants. If you're looking for a fry-up though, forget it. Staff are efficient and friendly enough, but this is not a hotel you spend a lot of time in - this is a base for exploring the city and in that capacity it met all our requirements.
