Relaxing villa convenient to the airport
Posted Jan 12, 2013
Pros: Location, elegant villa, pleasant staff, comfortable room, old-world dining experience with updated cuisine.
Cons: "Snacks" and light meals were not available in the bar, as advertised. The bartender had to get to his other job - as the restaurant server!
We checked in around 1 pm and spent a relaxing afternoon and evening before flying out of Milan the next morning. The villa is beautiful, just as the photos show. There really isn't a "garden" but nice lawn, some rose bushes, and a shady arbor. The pool wasn't open and there was no outdoor seating; we dragged some dusty plastic chairs from the pool storage area and had a picnic under the arbor anyway. We had a pleasant walk around the abandoned buildings and rural roads of the nearby village. We had a drink in the bar and a lovely (rather gourmet, rather expensive) dinner in the restaurant - the only choices for food. Incredible wine list. Unless you went into Milan there wouldn't be anything else to do here, but it was a wonderful way to relax on the last day of our trip. Airplane noise was not a problem! The morning shuttle to the airport was super-timely (10 minutes?) and convenient.

Good qualities for the airport traveler.

Pros: Clean, quiet, as advertised, nice staff.
Cons: Lack of cohesive decorating style.
Location: Lovely location right in the visual range of the airport. In a national park. Pretty!
This hotel has an interesting history. It was built in 1908 and is part salvaged materials from an old central train station they tore down in Milan years ago I believe. The hotel is oddly remodeled which does not enhance the charm or character. Kinda hodgepodge. Although, I give it high ratings because it's close to the Malpensa airport, quiet, clean, in a beautiful area, the staff is friendly and we liked it. The room came with breakfast and a shuttle to the airport. No complaints and we would happily stay there again.

Quiet, comfortable

Pros: Look of the building from the front gates
Cons: Small bathroom
Location: So handy to the airport, and shuttle transfer is very reliable
A quiet peaceful place to stay near the airport. The hotel is a bit old and scruffy, and not 4 star but clean and a good restaurant, and fabulous ground, with big mature trees. We would stay there again.

Country charm
Posted Jan 9, 2012
Pros: The location and the price were great.
Cons: The staff could have been friendlier.
Location: Fabulous location I talked about in the review.
Beautiful hotel sitting alone in the countryside you wouldn't guess you were very near the airport. We arrived at 11:00 am hoping to have lunch in the hotel's dinningroom. There was a wedding going on in the dinningroom so we were driven to a nearby village for a wonderful lunch in a charming restaurant. When we were finished we were picked up by the hotel staff and taken back to the hotel. It was a lovely afternoon excursion and if it hadn't been raining we could easily of had a wonderful walk in the countryside. Loved it!

Pros: Restaurant
Cons: The room
Location: Excellent
I have stayed there 4 times over the last 8 years, and the rooms have slowly gotten worse and worse. The place needs an overhaul. The restaurant is still very good

Great for overnight for travelers

I stayed here the night before my flight back home rather than trying to catch an early train from Bologna. Remember that Malpensa airport is in the middle of farmland in the Italian countryside (you could almost walk to Switzerland from the airport). The hotel offers a free shuttle from 5:30 am to 8:00 pm to and from the airport. It is best to call the hotel for pick-up. Although the shuttle does a run to the airport every 30 minutes. The restaurant is expensive (60 euro for 2 course dinner and 1/2 bottle of wine). The room (single) and breakfast are what is expected for a European 3-4 star hotel. I would consider staying here again if flying through Malpensa airport.

Horrible Place
Posted Jan 10, 2012
Cons: Condition of the hotel and indifference of the staff.
Our room's AC didn't work and neither did in our friend's room. When he complained, the staff didn't do anything about it. Their remote didn't work either - the complaint didn't get us anywhere. The rooms stunk, too. When we asked for help in finding a pizza place, the hotel said it was 15km away. We found one within 2 km on our own (and it was an excellent one). The hotel staff was just interested in selling their restaurant. If you need to stay close to Malpensa there are several other options - explore them.
