The Michelangelo has 306 air-conditioned guestrooms spread over 17 floors, all of which have modern decor in warm colours and walls adorned with decorative glass lamps. Pine furnishings match the pine-paneled walls; rooms also have granite-topped coffee tables and at least one leather chair.

All come equipped with pay-television, direct-dial telephones, and complimentary minibars, as well as mechanized shutters controlled from the bedside. High-speed Internet access is complimentary.

Bathrooms in aquatic-coloured tiles also have granite surfaces along with hair dryers and either shower units or shower/bath combinations. Some rooms are equipped with whirlpool tubs.

“lukewarm recommendation”

The hotel facilities are very nice and the location is conveniently situated near the train station. However, for the price, I would pick a more interesting neighborhood and I found the food in their restaurant very disappointing.

“Perfect for a one-nighter”

The Michelangelo is one of the better hotels around the Stazione Centrale, the main appeal being to those transiting Milan either by train or plane. The connections to the airports are good here. I would not stay here if my goal were to get to know Milan in depth. The room is like any international business hotel and it comes at a price. Other comparable hotels in the neighborhood were booked when I was there due to a Tottenham-Milano soccer match. The Michelangelo is rather pricey for many travelers looking for a one-night stay, but it is quite comfortable, has good sound-proofing, generous and tasty breakfast served with a smile, and is just a five minute walk from most transport you need. The front desk was efficient but unsmiling and often a smile makes a real difference to a tired road warrior. Note that internet access in the room is not wireless but requires the yellow cable hidden behind the television set.

“Convenience of location”

Right across from MILANO'S main train station. Hotel was a little dated but well maintained. Very convenient to the Metro, train, buses and taxis. Hotel restaurant was pricey for the quality. Loved the fresh squeeze orange juice, this was a delightful change from the boxed orange juices that other hotels serves. If you are unlucky to get a room facing the train station then it may be a bit noisy due to car traffic at night. Otherwise a nice stay.

“The best hotel in Milano by Central Station”

I stayed at Ibis Centro, 10 minutes away two nights before (the second worst hotel in years for me). This hotel is just great, certainly worth 4-stars. The first hotel I really wanted to write a review of. Strongly recommend to anyone in need to stay close to the Central Station. it is about 1/2 hr walk to Duomo.

Area recommendations

I was a bit dissapointed with Milano. The only nice area I found was around the Duomo cafedral. La Scala is unimpressive, especially in comparison with Viena or Bolshoy opera theaters.
