Nice hotel but the devil is in the detailsPosted Feb 24, 2014
My room had no hairdryer. I requested and one was brought to my room. It was a cheap, barely working dryer. Requested another one. By the time it was brought to my room I decided to go out with wet hair because I was late to the airport. For the money they charge you'd expect a hair dryer to be in the room and to be of a different quality. Other than I had no problems.

Westin Palace not for Tourists.Posted Feb 10, 2014
Pros: The location is handy to the railway stations. Arriving from Florence and leaving for Paris. Supermarket) is about 500 m from hotel.
Cons: The attitude from the staff that you have loads of money and you can pay over $60 for breakfast. I would not think about spending that amount.
Location: I was only there for 2 days so didn't get to do much apart from buying train tickets. Metro station is in front of hotel, underground.
Not good value for cost of room. Typical small room given because I travel as a single. This is the second time I selected Westin Palace because I arrived at Central Station but I was leaving from Garibaldi Station, so this hotel is half way between the two railway stations. At this expensive rate ( for a Grand Room) no breakfast provided. It seems that 5 star rating makes it ok to not provide breakfast , even continental breakfast. I can't accept that a cup of coffee and a croissant are that expensive. WiFi is not included in your room, so I would go down to the Recption and retrieve my emails in the morning and at night.

Impossible to believe this is a 5 star hotelPosted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: he reception staff wo tried their best
Cons: Everything - the rooms need refurb, the maintenance/housekeeping need sorting out and the food was oly adequate.
Location: Location is good
This hotl was terrible although the staff could not have tried harder. First room had dirty walls - needs a refurb. Lightbulb in lamps did not work and airconditioning is "not avaiable at this time of year' - which would not be a problem if the heating were not running 24/7 a full blast.

Does not meet the standard of the hotel five starsPosted Nov 29, 2013
Pros: The hotel is near the underground station. The price is not high.
Cons: The staff on the reception should be more attentive to the clients. The cleaning of the bath rooms should be improved too.
Location: The hotel situated near the underground station (three station till Duomo station, two till Motenapoleone, one till Melano Centrale).
We were three in the room ( one adult and two children - 7 and 14). We were sleeping on one bed. It was impossible to put extra bed because our room was very small. It was very difficult. The rooms are small. Some overlook the courtyard and they are always dark. From the air conditioner is the smell of cigarette smoke.

Good location for Central milan and main stationPosted Nov 25, 2013
Nice hotel overall. 5-10 minutes walk from main station (busy Main Street and safe feeling on late arrival). 15 mins walk from central shopping areas with nice cafés and restaurants en route ( good breakfast options). Room was nice and relatively peaceful. Very very comfy bed. We were next to a lift shaft which is not ideal but to be fair could not hear at all with ear plugs. Internet, breakfast , drinks (a good few nice bars very local with better cocktails for a 3rd of the price), laundry etc all overly expensive. Being in milan i expect to spend money but the quality of the bar area and breakfast is not exactly the ritz. I couldn't get a shirt ironed on short notice or even borrow an iron ( apparently a fire risk, which is a first from any other 5 star hotel I've stayed in worldwide, including in Italy). Anyway, I have perhaps over focused on some minor negatives there as one does in a review. Overall, we enjoyed a relaxing stay in a nice comfy room and enjoyed shopping and dining in milan.

The Western Palace,Milan, is no Palace!Posted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: The young doorman who gave us umbrellas when we went out walking, just in case it rained.
Cons: The rooms need to be properly cleaned and maintained and guests need to feel that they are welcome.
Location: We enjoyed all the tourist attractions and the local coffee shops, bars and restaurants. The location was good.
The bedside lamps in the room were dusty and the carpet and lounge chair were stained. Only a towel and a robe for one person were provided although room service obliged with extras when requested. Also drinking water for one was provided initially and no replenishment was provided during our stay. The wifi was exorbitantly priced; this is the only hotel where we have stayed that charged for wifi. A disappointing experience given the cost of the accommodation. Fortunately, our experiences outside the hotel were fantastic with beautiful milanese food and friendly locals. Milan was fantastic but the Western Palace was definitely the greatest disappointment of our trip.

Not nice and gentil staff.Posted Nov 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
Arriving to the hotel around 16h00 on Saturday, a lot of young people in front of hotel (it seems there were a convention or training event). Parking valets and other staff of hotel were smoking at less than 5 feets of entrance. I don't know if there is a regulation in Italy concerning the minimal distance front door to smoke is allowed but it is very inconfortable. People don't get out of our way to get in. We should ask, excuse-me may we pass please...... Arriving to front desk, staff not nice and gentil. Clerck doesn't want register us because my girldfrind's child doesn't have passeport or documention with picture even though we have presented standard identity card. My partner had to sign a declaration that the child was his son (first time ever in Italy). We are talking about a 5 stars hotel. This hotel doesn't deserve it. They forget the stars is not only the building and facilities. Service is very important. I am very desappointed with staff behaviors, not smiling, not nice to serve guests, ... Bad experience. I never come back to Milano's Westin PALACE. I had been in many 4 stars better than this 5 stars.
