“Great location/ great hotel”

Perfect hotel for anything "downtown" Milwaukee. Walking distance to everything. Excellent staff.

Area recommendations

This hotel is right in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. you can walk to any place you want, and for the most part do it using the "Skywalks" if the weather is bad. The skywalks are right across the street from the hotel.

Getting around

The skywalk system is very extensive, it will allow you to get pretty much anywhere you want to go. You MUST eat at the "Safe House" restaurant! Ask at the desk for directions, Take in an Admirals hockey game. It's inexpensive and still exciting. The Grand Ave. Mall is across the street for shopping.

Go to "The Safe House"!! Fun place, great food, reasonable prices. (Ask for directions @ the hotel desk. It's only 2 blocks away, but you WILL need directions to it.

THe Milwaukee Admirals hockey team plays at the Bradley Center, which is just 3 blocks away, and reachable by the skywalk system.

“very clean and convenient”

You will have to pay for parking in an area parking lot. Otherwise, this is clean and convenient.

Area recommendations

All of Milwaukee is wonderful! The Third Ward is fun for shopping, as is Walker's Point. We had wonderful meals on Brady St and heard some great music. Don't miss the fun tour at the Lakefront Brewery. It's a blast!

“Standard Motel”

This is a nice motel just off the I-90 freeway in Sparta, WI. I was in town for the weekend to run the Rails to Trails Marathon in nearby Norwalk. The room was clean, but there were several maintanence issues that needed attention. The drain in the bathtub ran very slow, the bathtub faucet dripped and the bathroom fan was very noisy. I notified the front desk clerk of the plumbing problems on Sunday morning, and when I got back from the race that afternoon the drain was running somewhat faster, but still slow. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable, the refrigerator and heating unit were reasonably quiet and the big TV was very nice. There was also a small TV in the bathroom, which I didn't use. The breakfast buffet was standard Best Western, including make-your-own waffles. There was also a small bar and grill. I ordered a pizza there, which was only so-so. The motel is about a one mile drive from downtown Sparta, and is actually quite isolated. There is a gas station nearby, but that's about it.

The Elroy - Sparta State Trail is a pleasant walk through the beautiful Wisconsin country-side. It follows an old railroad right-of-way so it has very gentle inclines. About two miles north of Norwalk the trail goes through an old tunnel, which is three quarters of a mile long and requires a good flashlight. That should give the kids something to talk about.

“Won't Go Back”

When we arrived the front desk clerk was very dejceted and didn't say a word to us while we were checking in. When we got to our room, 2 lights didn't work, and the bathroom lock was on the OUTSIDE of the door. At 5:30am we woke up to a heater that was blasting on high even though it was not set there. The control panel didn't work, so we couldn't change it. It was so hot in our room that my wife started getting sick. To make the pain worse, the window didn't open. Just don't stay here. For the $30 you save staying here, get the extra service and convenience of staying somewhere else.

“Met all basic expectations”

I traveled alone to Milwaukee for game 6 of the NLCS (go Cards!) and needed an inexpensive convenient hotel. This was it. Single room had comfortable bed and decent size bathroom. TV, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker all in room. Breakfast buffet in basement lobby. It is an older hotel in downtown MIlwaukee so it wasn't as quiet as you may be used to, but I'm a city boy and used to the noise. Great location and quite safe. I would look for larger rooms if bringing my family, but the solo traveler is well served here.

“Great hotel!!”

Rooms were clean and spacious, beds were very comfortable. We went to Miller Park for a game and had no problems getting there and the hotel staff was great. We will be back.
