Quick tripPosted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: Excellent location to downtown St. Paul and to access the freeway.
Parking at the hotel very convienant. Room very comfortable. If your a light sleepr the noise from the nearby freeway could be bothersome. However the view of the St. Paul cathedral is lovely. Will stay here again.

Nice Hotel, close to Minnesota State FairPosted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Comfortable rooms, friendly personal, nice pool & hot tub. .
Location: Easy Access to the State Fair, State Capitol, Como Park Zoo, and all the Mpls/St. Paul sporting events.
Nice Hotel, very comfortable beds. The bad experience we had was early the second morning we were awakened at 3:00 AM because the desk clerk mistakenly gave another party a key to our room. We didn't get much sleep after that but the manager refunded our second night.

Location: Close to downtown, Science museum, green line train to Mpls, great view of the Cathedral, easy access to interstate 94.
Helpful desk staff, two blocks from the green line. Very impressed with pool maintenance! 7am swimmers in party, staff was checking pH in all pools! Older hotel, but met our needs.

Disappointment!Posted Jun 23, 2014
We booked our reservation through Expedia on 02 June 2014 for a room on Saturday, 21 June 2014. We live in Rochester, about 90 minutes away, and wanted to stay near Excel due to attending a concert. I was called the afternoon by a staff member from Best Western on 21 June to confirm our reservation which I did and requested a late check-in. I was told by the Best Western employee no problem and look forward to seeing you later that day. As we arrived to the hotel around 11:30 p.m., I was informed by the hotel staff our room was oversold and given to someone who checked 8 minutes prior to arrival. The hotel blamed the oversold situation on a computer glitch and that we could stay approximately 25 miles away from St. Paul. Without making a scene in front of our kids, we decided to leave and drive back to Rochester. I would highly recommend you NOT stay at this hotel. Very sketchy employees, accommodations and location. This hotel is located directly in the highest crime area of St. Paul.

Missed getting coffee in the lobby. Up early and did not want to brew coffee in the room.
