“Don't count on it accommodating six people as they claim”
We booked this room because it said the rooms accommodated six people, and we have five in our family. Upon check-in, we discovered that the rooms actually only sleep four people, and you have to pay extra per night for each roll-away bed that you need. And, they have so few roll-aways available, that you can not count on them having any available. When I asked the assistant manager how we were to know this based on their claims on expedia of accommodating six people, she actually said that most people just have their kids sleep on the floor. Gross! I booked this room because we thought it would sleep six, not because we thought we would have to make a child sleep on the hard, dirty floor. Also, the lights in the pool room did not work either night that we were there. So, once the sun went down, the pool was totally dark. Towels were not stocked well in the pool room either. The hotel is out in the middle of nowhere, not close to anything except it is in the McDonald's parking lot. We did feel safe in the area though. Overall, we were very dissapointed. If you have four or fewer people staying in the room, you probably would not have felt the frustration that we did.
Family-friendly activities
Mall of America is a must, even if you don't like shopping. My kids spent the whole day on the rides and the ropes course. All of it is indoors, so you don't have to worry about snow, rain, or excessive heat. Just have fun on the rides! And, unlike most amusement parks, we never waited more than 10-15 minutes in line for a ride. Bonus for shoppers is that while kids and dad are having fun on the rides, Mom can go shopping!
Science museum in St. Paul is great for kids, and the newly remodeled Minneapolis zoo is great, too.
