Recreation

The visitor center for the 14,000-acre Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge—one of only four urban wildlife refuges in the U.S.—is 2 miles east of the hotel. Prime activities there include walking the trails, bird-watching, and nature photography. Also nearby is Fort Snelling State Park, with facilities for hiking, biking, skiing, and canoeing. “Would definitely go back”

The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The shuttle system was very convenient to get to where we needed to go.

“All good except for the pool and spa”

Chemicals in the pool were too strong. Caused us to cough endlessly, eyes burning, skin burning, and very uncomfortable. We were in the spa for all of 4 minutes before I took the kids and we left to try and rinse off the chemicals that were burning our skin. Whoever takes care of them should be fired, as it was so bad I am surprised nobody has brought on a lawsuit. We are not like that, and just chose to stay out of the pool after that, but it was very disappointing that our kids could not go swimming either of the two nights because of the amount of chemicals added to the water. We were there on a Thursday and Friday night.

“Convenient location hotel”

it's my first visit to Minneapolis. I had a business appointment just close to the airport, so this hotel was very good location to stay. Jake's restaurant located in the lobby floor was also good one.

“..can't wait 'til the next time”

the stay was brief, the staff were friendly, courteous, helpful. The room was elegant, upscale, and tastefully decorated; just what the doctor ordered. A weekend of fun and total relaxation. THANKS!

“Accept the best”

I expect the best in service and accommodations from Marriott and this is what I got at the Courtyard by Marriott in Minneapolis Bloomington. A warm welcome from professionals at the front desk and a clean and comfortable room. The restaurant food and service was equally good but a bit pricey if you are on a budget. The only criticism about this property is that it is not listed on the hotel reservations board at the Minneapolis airport so I had to find a phone to call for the hotel shuttle to pick me up. No pay phones in sight but I found a man from the Airport Commission who loaned me his cell phone to make the call. I like this property and will stay there again.

Area recommendations

The Bloomington area is close to the airport and the Mall of America.

When to go

I would not want to go to Minnesota in the winter because of the ice and snow. I live in Kansas and we have an occasional blizzard but not the extreme cold and ice and snow of the Minneapolis area. On the other hand, if you don't mind the weather and are traveling to that area to ski or participate in other winter activities, the Minneapolis Bloomington area is a good place to stay. I was in MInnesota in August and loved it. The weather was perfect; cooler and more comfortable than the heat or Kansas.

“Perfect!”

There were four of us who needed a place to stay after a day of shopping at the MOA! It was nearby just what we needed to relax. Breakfast the next morning at Jake's was good as well.

“location great for shopping at the Mall of America”

This hotel was in walking, driving and of course shuttle distance from the Mall of America. We were sisters on a mission to “shop.” We did drive to other malls in the area. One doesn’t really need to rent car. It was nice to be able to come and go though with the car. The front desk was very knowledgeable of the area, we knew if we asked them a question about the area they knew it, not like a lot of other people we asked?!?!?!? We enjoyed our stay here.

Area recommendations

This was a leisure visit. I would recommend the Mall of America, and the train to downtown at the mall. The train was very reasonably priced for a round trip. I would recommend everyone try it.

“Debbie”

It was an awesome hotel for a great price! It was right near the airport and Mall of America but it was 20 minutes from downtown, so we ended up driving quite a bit. Next time I would stay closer to downtown so we could walk or ride bikes instead of drive so much.

“Courtyard - MSP”

We were comfortable at the Courtyard. Even though by the airport, we did not hear any airport traffic. (We were in rooms opposite the freeway, we were in rooms facing the Residence Inn). The beds were comfortable and housekeeping did their job daily. The breakfast is tasty but pricy. The lobby is small but allowed us to meet with our party for discussions.

“Very good service”

Staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived late and there was no parking available. They let us park in the heated parking garage at no charge. They gave directions to take the light rail downtown and the shuttle driver made a special stop for us at the train station. We thought the tub wasn't draining properly and they sent someone up right away to check it out. It was fine- just didn't have the lever down properly. They were very prompt and friendly. Room was clean and quiet. Would definitely recommend.

Area recommendations

Mall of America- buy the discount coupon book at information- well worth the price. Tucci Benuch Restaurant in MOA-excellent Italian food. IKEA-excellent deals, fun shopping Shout House-dueling piano bar-downtown-make reservations.
