Great stayPosted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: everything was great!
Cons: The fan in the room was very loud.
Was looking for a nice hotel close to the University, with food and entertainment within walking distance, and this hotel worked out very well.

Nice one night stayPosted Nov 10, 2013
The rooms were really dry for the air. But otherwise everything was wonderful.

Great downtown location close to U of M campusPosted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: Room decor & location
Cons: Staff knowledge of local area: restaurants and walking directions to local features and facilities (U of MN stadium).
Location: Food & beverage. Love the sidewalk cafe's.
Except for not being aware of the name change to Marriott, we had an absolutely excellent experience. The rooms are wonderful, having been completely updated. The price is great for a downtown location and we found multiple wonderful restaurants within a short walking distance. I will be back!

Thank you so much for your review of our hotel. It is great to hear that our new - top to bottom renovation was well received. You are spot on - we are in a central hub of activity between the University of Minnesota and the downtown market. Please come back and stay with us again if you are in the Minneapolis area. Thanks Clay. Philip Johnson General Manager

Great Last Minute ChoicePosted Aug 25, 2013
Pros: Modern style, friendly employees, free shuttle service to the local train station (Mall of America to/from Target Field)
Cons: Nothing seeing as they are already on top of that with the renovations
Location: Various local bars with no cover charges. University of Minnesota in walking distance.
A friend and I booked this hotel at the last minute after having problems with our previous hotel. Before booking, we did see that the hotel was under renovation by Expedia so that was no surprise when we actually got there. Because of that reason though, we gave the hotel a 3 on condition since most of the hotel was under repair. The hotel staff throughout our stay were very polite and gave us tips and advice on the surrounding area and even gave us free shuttle drop off and pick up, to and from the local train station. Which also happened to be right next to the Metrodome. There was free wifi service and continental breakfast included with the stay. The room we stayed in was brand new, quite possibly we could of been the first ones to check into that room. Comfortable and lots of room for two people and easily four. Even though this hotel is more on the outskirts of downtown, riding the train is a 5 minute ride. Would of loved to have stayed there after the renovation since it is looking promising.

Great location, great staff, great timePosted Aug 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
Read reviews about hotel, and knew in advance the pool would be closed, and the hotel was under renovation. My friends and I were in town for a Twins game, and had a fantastic time. Can't remember the names of the 2 women behind the front desk who were on duty, but they were extremely helpful and answered all questions we had. Complimentary shuttle took us to rail system, which took us to Target Field for 50 cents. Plenty of nightlife surrounding area after returning from game, too. Look forward to returning next year and seeing completed renovations. Again, we knew there would be construction, but it did not affect us at all (noise, dust, etc).

Under major constructionPosted Jul 20, 2013
What you don't know when you bid on this hotel is it's under major construction. And when I saw major, I mean the lobby is drywall and pretty nearly a folding desk for the gals at check in. Getting to the door is a trick in itself. However, the rooms are just fine. We go there during a major heat spell and while the lobby was blazing hot, the hallways and rooms were just fine. Hallways were a bit dusty from people tracking drywall but the rooms were clean. Nice big flatscreen TV, great water pressure. And I have to give kudos to the staff, they were all VERY accommodating and went out of their way. We were visiting the UofM campus and we had a shuttle at our disposal (and the driver was very nice and helpful as well) and never had to take our car out of the lot which was reasonably priced at $6 a day. Lots of eating places right next to the hotel as well. This is going to be a beautiful renovation when it's done, so if you don't mind a little dust you can save a ton of money being right in the downtown area until it's completion in fall of 2013.

excellent servicePosted Jul 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
Aside from the construction on the lobby I hardly noticed this hotel was under construction. Hotel staff was really great and helped me with everything I needed including several free shuttle rides. My room was very nice and clean. Complimentary breakfast included several items I could eat even though I am gluten free. Great stay! I can only imagine how awesome it will be when the reno is done!

We will have the same helpful staff members and provide the same great experiences as a fully renovated Courtyard by Marriott. Very helpful staffPosted Jun 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Minneapolis-Metrodome. The hotel was under construction so that was a mild inconvenience, but the wonderful staff more than made up for that. The front desk person was beyond helpful and every other staff member we interacted with was very friendly as well. Also, because of the construction they offered us continental breakfast in the morning and room service at night, which was very much appreciated. The neighborhood was not my favorite, but the hotel was great!

Hotel was under construction.Posted Jun 21, 2013
The hotel was under construction. Lobby boarded up, pavement torn up, loud. Over priced for the experience. Should have been made aware of construction before booking.

Renovation rip-offPosted Jun 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
I was not happy with the fact that we paid over $225 for two hotel rooms and then found out that the hotel was under renovation and had no pool, hot tub, lobby, restaurant, room for continental breakfast. The hotel also does not comp parking even though it is the only ramp anywhere close. Their explanation was that it was privately run ramp and they could not control it. Obviously they could control it by contracting with the parking ramp. The most disappointing was that the hotel offered no discount or rebate and then blamed us for not knowing that they were under construction. I was happy that Hotels.com was very helpful and offered us compensation when the hotel would not.

Dear Keith, I want to sincerely apologize for the negative experience you had at our hotel. The construction is a noisy, unsightly disruption and I truly regret that we could not offer you our pool, hot tub, lobby, restaurant or a private room for continental breakfast. All of our private meeting space is currently under renovation, so while not ideal, the 5th floor elevator landing is our best option for presenting our temporary continental breakfast. My apologies that we are unable to offer complimentary parking, as well. For guest ease, we package the cost of the parking with the room on your behalf and pass along the parking expense to the ramp owners since the hotel does not own or operate the facility. I am sorry that this was not properly communicated and will be addressed before you stay with us once again. I am truly sorry, as well, that you were not made aware of our construction. Though we have renovation information on our website and online travel agency websites, I understand your frustration with walking into a construction scene without any warning and would also be completely dissatisfied. I hope you come back, Keith, once the renovation is complete so you we can offer you a refreshing, transformed experience from when you stayed with us last. Sincerely, Phil
