“Not there for the view...”

I was travelling for business where the office location was a short walk away. My room was located on the 8th floor where I had a spectacular view of a brick alley....as I said, I wasn't there for the view, just a good night of sleep. They have Select Comfort beds which was a pleasant surprise since I have one at home. The room size was fine, bathroom was small...very small sink. Shower floor appeared to be less than spotless....but it worked. I would go back if nothing else more convenient was available. In short, if you don't mind feeling like "Dr. Richard Kimble" and staring at a brick wall across the street, this hotel is ok.

“Great for an overnight stay!”

Parking lot built for small cars and small trucks but pleasant staff, quick breakfast, restaurant, and bar services made up for that! Great river view! Easy access from all directions.

Upgraded to river view room. Very friendly staff. Will stay here again.

We loved this hotel! The staff was super accomodating and so pleasant!! We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was amazing and very reasonable! We also ordered room service one night [late] and got great pizza! The rooms were very clean and comfortable as was the entire hotel. It was beautiful decor and the pool area was impressive. The ONLY downside was the parking ramp..which is old and not made for very large cars. It was tight quarters and was an additional charge per night. Other than that....it was one of the best places we have ever stayed and if we have the opportunity, we will gladly go back!

“Just an "ok" experience, could have been better”

Stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and a concert that was in town. The pictures from the website looked nice, and the place got good reviews so we decided to stay here. The best thing about the hotel for us was the location; only 4 blocks from the concert venue, just a short drive from the Mall of America, and had a nice view of the river. However, the first thing we noticed was the room was very humid and had a strange smell. The smell wasn't necessarily bad, but combined with the humidity it reminded us of an old, damp basement. One half of the sleep number bed didn't work (stuck on very firm) so that was frustrating. The bathroom was just awkward. It looked as though they just threw a toilet in wherever they could so part of it actually goes underneath the countertop/sink area. The shower was probably the most frustrating part though. The water pressure was awful, but we could deal with that. However, there was no in-between when it came to the temperature of the water. You either had scalding hot or freezing cold water every time. I tried for several minutes to get it to a reasonable temperature, but I had no such luck. We both ended up having to take really quick, cold showers because the hot water was just way too hot.

“Musty odors”

Staff and food were great. However, the room was quite dated; carpet needed replacing, Select Comfort Mattress didn't operate and there was a musty/moldy odor that gave both of us a headache. Will try a different hotel next visit.

I had a wonderful experience at the Crowne Plaza. I was able to get a great price off of expedia and for the money it was the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms are nice, large, and well kept. The location is smack dab in the middle of downtown St. Paul and has beautiful views overlooking the Mississippi. The only drawback is the pool and hot tub. They are both sub-par but if you're like me and don't swim that much at hotels, then you'll be fine. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to the St. Paul/Minneapolis area.
