In desperate need of updating, not worth the money

Posted Sep 16, 2014
I booked this hotel for my husband and I's 19th wedding anniversary, hoping to have a romantic get away. The hotel was extremely disappointing. In desperate need of repair and updating. There was trim/molding missing in the bathroom, cracked sink and floor tile. A terrible cocking job around tub. The TV is hanging from the wall and is the smallest/oldest TV I've seen in a long time. There are two sides of this hotel. The river side and the alley (they liked to call it the "city side"). I called the hotel prior to our stay (because I booked it on Expedia and was not given a choose) and was told I was on the "city side". To make matters worse, the garbage truck comes through the alley at 5:58 Sunday morning. The location is terrific and the little bar was nice and we managed to have a romantic night but the price for this hotel is not worth the money, SUPER over priced even for a Saturday night. I wish they would put some of that money back INTO the hotel. SAD, we won't stay here again.

Decrepit, understaffed.

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: It had its own parking lot in a very busy little town.
Cons: As long as there were no loss of life, a good fire would do wonders for the place.
Location: It's on a noisy, busy street. Lots of shopping, dining and drinking establishments all over town.
Saturday night was very busy but they were understaffed. It took my wife and I hours to get our sandwiches. I ended up eating mine before hers came. In fact, we moved into the bar and hers eventually showed up there. She ate it amid loud music---a duo but one was sick so there was a fill-in trying to follow the guitarist. The entire night was truly a complete mess.

When we first checked in, we loved the quaint look of our room (Water Street Room). The jacuzzi didn't work so they quickly fixed the problem by upgrading us to a suite (St. Croix Suite). We did not ask for such thing but it was nice to know they had our best interest in mind. We LOVED the room. The room and balcony overlooked the St. Croix River which made the stay even more romantic. The hotel was in a great location and was within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The next time we think about staying at the Waterstreet Inn we're definitely going to upgrade our stay to a suite. It's well worth it!

Not for the business traveler

Posted May 13, 2014
Pros: it has a charm about it. Sits at the waterfront.
Cons: If they care about appealing to the business traveler, they need to put some kind of workspace in the room. Their pillows were like boards.
Location: The town of Stillwater is quaint with a lot of boutiques and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
The experience was disappointing. While the hotel itself is quaint, it is not designed at all for the comfort of the business traveler. There was absolutely no place to work in the guest room. I had to sit on the bed to use my computer. There is virtually no place in the bathroom to place toiletry items. I was there on Mother's Day so took myself to brunch. Food and selections were less than adequate and they actually charged extra for a cup of cold, stale tasting coffee. On Saturday night, there was a blaring band downstairs which I could hear in my second floor guestroom until they stopped around 11:30am.

Would stay again

Loved the room. It was much bigger than I thought it would be. Nice corner room with view of both the river and the town. Great location to our event in Stillwater.

Water Street Inn

The hotel was a bit shabbier and run down looking than we expected. We were in the north-west corner of the hotel and it was very noisy. Workers were dumping glass in the trash both late and early. There was a big private party that went late into the night and was very loud. The restaurant food was very average and the service was painfully slow. Our waitress stood and talked with the table next to us for fifteen minutes. Our food took forever and was pretty bland. The location was great though. Next time I'll pay extra for a nice bed and breakfast.

fun place to stay along the river

The Hotel was beautiful. Our room was beautiful. The only thing we did not enjoy about the hotel is we were put in a wing that was being remodeled. (Which you could not tell at check in time.) But, during the night furniture was moved out of other rooms and carpet was moved into the hall. Very noisy! While we were trying to relax and sleep. It made a maze for us to walk through to get in and out of our room in the morning.
