Sketchy and Cheap

Posted Jul 8, 2014
The hotel was awful; there were cigarette burns in the pillows and on the sheets, there weren't any pillow cases or garbages and, because the door didn't fully close, we had to prop my winter tires and luggage up against it in order to keep it shut. We felt like we were sleeping in a room designated for prostitutes. There was also a loud fight out in the parking lot from about 1130pm until 130 am. We definitely did not feel safe and would not recommend The Magic City Hotel - even for the price.

The motel itself is not the issue, it is the occupants would not stay there nor would I recommend to anyone.

Dirty, smell of stale smoke

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: Staff were accommodating
Cons: Renovate
Location: centrally located
Would not recommend this motel, good location but dirty and stinky. Sheets were dirty and stained and poor lighting, could have used a flashlight.

hotel had misplaced our reservation fax from you and was not esp ecially concerned---took a half hour to check in. room had a stale smell and cheap furnishings. bed was ok---floors clean---picture on site does not reflect hotel accurately---with the oil boom they are busy enough to not need to win people back

Don't Stay Here!!

Posted Aug 13, 2012
Pros: I guess the staff was friendly but that was about it.
Cons: The smell.
Location: Right behind a bar/restaurant so its noisy and busy. Would be a good central location in Minot because it is right beside the K-Mart.
Firstly, this hotel has no updated signs saying it is the Magic City Motel. That should have been our first clue to run the other way instead of registering. The first room we were given stunk of mold and paint and had no screen on the window when we tried to open it. We asked for another room and the second one still smelt bad so we ended up going to buy air freshener just so we could stand being in the room. The tub was rusted and the toilet seat cut my husband's hand. It felt like we were in a creepy horror movie. The staff was nice enough but other than that there's nothing good to say about this place. Spend the extra $30 to $50 on a different place to stay. Any other hotel would seem like a luxury after staying here.
