Our favourite accommodation of whole trip, we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Amazing location. Very comfortable stylish rooms. Excellent breakfast. Very welcoming hosts, we wish them well in their new venture, they deserve to do well. Would highly recommend, wished we'd stayed longer.

Absolutely enjoyed our 2 night stay at Licuala Lodge. Stayed in the Superior King Room which was private, clean and modern with lots of special little touches. It also had a patio area with its own entrance to the guest common area and kitchen. Continental breakfast was included in our rate and we also purchased a cooked breakfast option for one morning. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and presentation of the food offered to us. Set amongst nature with beautiful gardens and a fantastic pool and only minutes to the beach, shops and town. A perfect spot to relax or explore the beauty of the area. Thoroughly recommend Licuala Lodge for the way the owners take pride in how they present what their property has to offer and also their approachable, friendly personality.

Beautiful spot, secluded & peaceful. Beautiful gardens, pool is awesome. Rooms very comfortable. Great place for a peaceful getaway! Breakfast was great. Loved our few nights here!

Bird Paradise
We found this place online for being the good place to spot cassowary. And it didn't disappoint us. Within 30 mins of arrival (close to sunset), a cassowary wandered through the garden and gave us a huge surprise while we were watching other birds and butterflies. We saw it again next morning walking out of the forest next to the swimming pool. Besides cassowary, we also saw many stunning butterflies and birds, including catbird, figbird, olive-backed sunbird, bar-shouldered dove, yellow-spotted honey eater...just name a few. If you are a birder, then this place is perfect for you. We stayed at the king room, and it has its own private patio and grill. Couple things to mention: updated bathroom, spotless bedroom, delicious home made breakfast, best of all, super nice hosts. We highly recommend this place for anyone visiting mission beach!

We really enjoyed our stay at Licuala Lodge. The property, accomodation, breakfasts and discussions with the great hosts Dawn and Blair, were all first class. We also enjoyed the many butterflies and birds as well as seeing Charlie the Cassowary Alan and Mary.

A beautiful location with wonderful hosts
Our 5 night stay at Licuala Lodge was just wonderful. Our hosts Blair and Dawn were very attentative, friendly and full of information about the local area. The bonus of seeing a male Cassowary and his two chicks strolling through the property on 3 of our 5 days was a real highlight. The included breakfast was fresh and filling and set us up for the days activities. The view from the breakfast deck over the mature gardens is a relaxing way to start the day. The rooms were comfortable and include everything you need for an overnight or extended stay. Provision of a shared lounge with kitchen facilities was important to us and we enjoyed preparing a meal here on a number of nights. There is even a fridge with beer/wine/soft drink and ice-creams available for purchase in the lounge area. We would most definitely return and stay with Blair and Dawn again. You really can't go wrong with booking to stay at this wonderful BnB.

A hidden gem
Lovely and charming little place tucked away from tourists with wonderful gardens. 2 cassowaries with chicks spotted in 2 days. Breakfast is lovely. Only 20 minutes walk to the beach and a couple of places to eat. Very sweet and helpful owners. Will come again!

perfect spot to stay in Mission Beach
What a fantastic stay. Stylish and comfortable room, comfy bed, good shared kitchen. Add to that a beautiful rainforest setting, wonderful garden and incredible breakfast and you have our perfect stay. Pool was great and there was a Casowary wandering through one day! Great hosts too. Perfect.

This property would not suit everyone. It is not on the beach, it does not have TV in your room and the pool is not great. It has a shared verandah where you can sit and share travellers tales and magnificent gardens. Walls between rooms are thin. Works if you are with like-minded people. Owners super friendly and couldn't do enough for you - breakfast enormous. Lodge located in rainforest - on both mornings of our stay a casawary strolled across gardens to everyones delight. Wallabies sighted too. A relaxed stay away from the main strip and truly memorable.

Thank you for your review. It's true we are not on the beach, however this is a 20 minute walk, or 5 minute drive away - and the beaches are fabulous! Our pool suits our property - surrounded by rain forest and gardens. It is not olympic sized but is just right for a refreshing swim and relaxing. We do not have televisions in the rooms, however we have a guest lounge where you can relax and watch the TV if required. The walls are thin, we are a Queenslander Pole House, made of wood - ear plugs are supplied for guest's convenience.

A wonderful “homestay”style B’nB hosted by a very friendly and welcoming couple who we now consider as our friends. Great breakfasts overlooking a garden stocked with wallabies and cassowaries. We definitely plan to see Mick and Sue again.

This was a lovely property with a stupendous garden and rainforest as a backdrop. The host and hostess were wonderful people who made sure you were well looked after and who served delicious breakfasts. A highlight was seeing cassowaries on the huge property. Would highly recommend this beautiful lodge.

Great hosts, beautiful gardens, quiet location close to shops. Not on the beach so don’t expect that, but good chance you’ll see a Cassowary.

I was lucky enough to meet a cassowary chick within half hour of checking in! The breakfast is Devine, the hosts are friendly an only a short drive to the beach.

It was great. The room was very clean and nice. The owners are really lovely and helpfull. We arrived the Day before Christmas and thanks to them we got to the store in time. On Christmas Day they made it feel like Christmas even Tho we were far away from family. We had a great stay.

Peaceful and beautiful stay
Very beautiful colonial/queenslander style architecture built for comfort in the tropics. Complimented by an amazing garden I was very impressed with this lodge. I would consider staying there again most deffinately.

we'd stay again if we could
despite our last minute booking the day before anzac day we were given a great welcome. the hosts were helpful, the bed was comfortable, the facilities were good, the breakfast was excellent. we even had a visit from a cassowary.

A Tropical Paradise
It was so relaxing and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and our breakfasts were scrumptious. Best coffee ever and Cassowarys on cue.

Lovely little place-got to see my first Cassowary
Only stayed here one night. Nice little place, wasn't expecting the communal area for the kitchen/living room but it was nice little touch. And great breakfast to set you up for the day

Quiet location and accommodating hosts
Very quiet location, with the occasional visit from a cassowary in the morning and evening. The grounds and pool are amazing. Hosts Mick and Sue are both friendly and helpful, the breakfast prepared is both amazing and very filling. The rooms provided are very clean and very comfortable.

Excellent resort style accommodation
Perfect resort style accommodation. Great salt water pool with a mini waterfall and some shade. Also, cassowaries visiting in the morning are a highlight. We were lucky both mornings to see a mother with two chicks. Booked for one night but we decided to stay one more day just to relax and enjoy the place without even leaving the lodge for most of the day. Great breakfast with local tropical fruit and big-breakfast style eggs, fruit cakes and jams! The hosts running the place were very hospitable and made us feel perfectly relaxed. They offered plenty of advice regarding activities around and on our way back. Licuala Lodge has also beautifully maintained garden. No air conditioning in rooms adds to tropical experience. Fans provided are sufficient to cool you down - visited in December/January and it was pretty hot + humid. Walk to the beach is about 30 mins as the lodge is located in the forest, in the middle of cassowary territory.

Tropical Paradise
It was great to stay in Licuala Lodge after a city hotel and we loved the tropical feel of the place. The swimming pool wad superb and we loved sitting on the verandah in the evening . The breakfast was wonderful and Mick and Sue were excellent hosts - nothing was too much trouble. A great getaway.

Not for Business Stay
I found it not to be what I required for a Business Stay. This is a Bed & Breakfast not what you would call a Hotel and needs to be made clearer that it is not suited for Business in any way. Great get away place and if looking for peace and quiet in great surroundings, this is the spot. Friendly people.

the most relaxing night's stop you'll have.
A beautifully unique location with friendly hosts and excellent facilities, what more can one want? The pool is fabulous and the surroundings are lush tropical gardens, it was such a contrast to other hotels we had sayed in on our way up the Queensland coast. Wish we had stayed longer because you can feel life's stresses draining away instantly. As for the breakfast on the balcony, beautiful, along with some other friendly guests made it a perfect break.

It's like being on a little island, the gardens are so colourful and such a variety of plants. the breakfast truly is number one in Australia-all feshly made and cooked. The host goes out of his way to give you any help that he can. the place is a home away from home. I definitely will be returning!!
