Very noisyPosted Mar 27, 2015
Pros: The pool and hot tub and restaurant were all OK.
Cons: Put some new patio windows in to reduce the noise.
Room was OK except incredibly noisy from the street noise. Pool and hot tub were OK and the restaurant was OK too.

Great hotel near Sea WorldPosted Mar 23, 2015
Very nice hotel. We stayed in a room with a patio which made the room feel small. Beds seem smaller than regular beds too but overall loved staying there. Pool area is beautiful! Will definitely stay here again. This trip was to Sea World which was perfect because this hotel was only a few miles away.

Average hotel in above average location.Posted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: The bed and the pillows being comfortable.
Cons: Allowing guests to print boarding passes without paying extra.
Location: Perfect location; close to the beach and great restaurants.
The Handlery Hotel is an average hotel -- nothing great and nothing terrible about the actual room that we stayed in. The gripe that I have with the hotel is paying $14 per day for parking, and paying a ridiculous fee to use the business center to print out boarding passes. You have a fee to connect to the internet, then a fee per minute used, then a dollar-per-page printing fee. Breakfast is not included in the cost of the room, either, which isn't a deal-breaker, but is a bummer. On a positive note, the both the bed and the pillows were comfortable!

Possible Upgrading?Posted Mar 19, 2015
Pros: Staff was very pleasant
Cons: keep making improvements, it will look great!
All in all the stay as pretty average. It seems to me that the hotel might be slowly going through renovations, but I'm not sure. Some areas look like paint over paint. Some doors & knobs looks old, but at the same time there are areas that look to be updated - Newer TV's, nice beds & bedding. Lobby area looks pretty, stair wells & carpeting looks a little old. Thin walls - was able to hear my neighbors TV, had to call front desk. They were very helpful by sending over a rep to ask them to lower the volume.

Close to freewayPosted Mar 9, 2015
Great customer service. Everyone is very attentive. Our room was very small but we had comfortable beds. The pool area is very nice and well maintained. Heated pool was a plus. There is a $14 parking fee which I think is ridiculous if you are a guest.

MORE THAN WE EXPECTEDPosted Mar 8, 2015
Pros: great location and the friendly and helpful staff
Location: very close to the freeway and very close to shopping and restaurants as well as the Zoo and Balboa Park, also downtown
very courteous and friendly staff, we stayed 5 days in San Diego and the Handlery Hotel is located in a perfect location close to the Zoo, downtown and Balboa Park, close to shopping and restaurants. Our room was very clean and we had very comfortable beds, also it was very quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I forgot something in my room and they promptly mailed it back to me in Canada.
