“Don't do it”

Older hotel, double beds, my wake up call never came, the TV didn't work. Need I say more?

I truly apologize that your stay with us did not exceed your expectations. The property is scheduled for many upgrades in the very near future and will cast aside any stigma of an older hotel. I understand your frustration with having television issues. The hotel has installed LCD televisions and will soon upgrade to the HD signal in hopes of avoiding any future issues with the old style sets. I would like to thank you for your response as we deeply value everyone's opinion and use them to not only correct issues but to give credit when it is due as well. Best Regards.

“We would go back.”

“a TRUE last minute deal”

we had justdrove into town at the last minute and needed a place to stay. most hotels we stopped at were booked for family reunions so we went online using the blackberry and booked the room while sitting in the parking ot of the hotel. once they confirmed we just walked right in. and what a agreat price

“Mobile State Tennis Tournamnet - Not a Great Host”

The good: 1. Room was comfortable 2. 1 day the hotel thought ahead and had cooler filling stations (we where in town for the state tennis tournament) 3. Catered dinner was good, servers had a hard time keeping up with the pace of the buffet line, but good none the less The less good: 1. The elevators appeared to be broken - I was on the 17th floor - it took 15-20 minutes either way to get on the one elevatoer that was working 2. Ice machines on most floors didn't work. Again, I stayed on 17 and it was out the whole time. I found working models on 8 and 10, but it was trial and error 3. Per #2 in "the good" the hotel only planned ahead one day (Friday) with the filling stations so we had to wait on the elevators to go back up and find floors with ice (20 minutes each way) on Saturday and Sunday 4. The vending machines where all always empty (atleast on 16 and 17); trip to the lobby (after 20 minutes to catch elevator down and 20 more to come back up) results in the same purchase for $1 more for the same item - $2.50 instead of the $1.50. 5. The property is connected to a plasma donation center. Not what you would expect from a Marriott.

Area recommendations

If it's for the tennis tournaments, this area probably makes the most sense, but most of the hotels are average. Downtown has some very nice properties, if you are willing to travel the distance.

“Will be returning”

Absolutely the best hotel experience ever! Everyone was so welcoming and nice! Will definately make reservations at this hotel when we go back to Mobile and will seek out other Marriots in other cities for future vacations. Not to mention the food was phenominal!

Area recommendations

I am a big fan of Mobile so really I would recommend all of it! The downtown area is gorgeous with all the old buildings and beautiful parks.

Felix's is truly the best Seafood I have ever tasted!

Outdoors or beach

Dauphin Island is definately a place to visit while in Mobile! Gorgeous beaches, ferry rides and Fort Gaines.

“I missed the party..”

Upon exiting the elevator, aside from the blast of heat, I noticed the trash receptacle was filled with empty beer cans. As my mother and I were unpacking, we noticed hair on the bath room countertops, bath towels, and toilet seat. Yes, I know that this may not be anything out of the ordinary, but you just expect more attention to details. We then noticed the ice bucket was filled with melted ice. The last straw, were the two empty spirit bottles next to my bed. I guess I missed the party. You can only imagine what was going on in this room prior to my arrival. The hotel management staff, after two phone calls, informed me that no adjustments could be made to my invoice, but they did offer two vouchers to the resturant. Well, the hotel housekeeping staff complained about work-place politics. I feel quests should not be aware of business politics. That night, I read Marriott's Spirit to Serve (which was very interesting). Maybe the employees and management staff at Mobile Marriott should read this book and adapt the 12 rules of success, especially number two (Take good care of your employees, and they will take good care of your customers..) Worst hotel staff. You expect more from the Marriott.

Area recommendations

I would strongly recommend Felix Resturant on the Mobile Bay. The food was excellant, the staff was very friendly, and the landscape was beautiful. The best seafood I have ever ate.
