“the sunsets a spectacular”
Very pleasurable friendly quite homey and it is set on a beautiful part of the island and has great sunrises and sunsets and it is also close to town a very rich in cultural settings and authentic qualities...
“Best meal on the road”
Don't have a beach and a lot of place, but clean with good meal and music.
“Can't wait to go back”
We stayed on a Sunday and needed some peace and quiet time...it was absolutely fantastic! The room was very clean and comfortable. We plan to stay here again! We missed the evening entertainments on Friday and Monday!
“Real Hawaii--Molokai”
Want to actually relax on a trip? This is the place.
“Best place to stay in Molokai”
Nice place ... would recommend it to our friends. Possibly the nicest place to stay in Molokai. Rooms are clean and comfortable, location was great, grounds are immaculate, staff was very friendly.
“most enjoyable hotel”
We would recommend. Convenient to driving around the island and close to places to eat in town.
“A great experience!”
A throw back to old Hawaii. 1960's Polynesian architecture on the outside but the inside has been updated and is comfortable with internet available. My first room was with a kitchenette and lanai. Nicely equiped but dark due to the aspect of the room. I upgraded to an ocean front room in the Niihau wing which I think are the nicest rooms. The bar and restaurant are great in term of the view and ambience - Sunsets and live music every night make for a great experience. Interesting and friendly locals and visitors abound here. This is not the Four Seasons and if you're into high style and lots of action then this is not the place for you, nor is the whole island for that matter. I heard someone mention bugs in their room but they didn't seem to care. I had none in my room. Again, if that sort of thing freaks you out go to another island. The location is close the the main town and close to the gorgeous east side of the island. Best and safest swimming and snorkeling from shore is at MM20, Murphy's Beach. The concierge is helpful to set up tours and activities but if they don't have enough people for an activity you could be left out. Best bet is to follow up with Molokai Fish and Dive if the tour is short of folks.
“Not a five star, but then it's Molokai not Waikiki!”
If you're going for the hotel, skip Molokai. If you're going to experience Molokai, then this hotel fits right in. We spent little time in our room so the few thinks we didn't like were minor. We had expected air conditioning and the room did get hot during the day, but we were out in the air conditioned car so it didn't matter. It was comfortable at night. The loft essentially made it two rooms which was perfect for two adult friends traveling together. The pool hours (9 to 5) were not conducive to our using it, but then there was live entertainment in that area each evening. The restaurant was excellent. We ate all but one meal there and we did not need or use our kitchenette. The mattress could of had a cover under the sheet. When I saw the stains, well I was glad it was check out day.
“Hospitable, Warm and Friendly”
Good.
“It started as only lodging prior to Kalaupapa Mule Ride..........”
We needed lodging on Molokai for the evening prior to our tour of Kalaupapa via Molokai Mule Rides and Damien Tours. What was planned as a necessary arrangement turned in to another high point of a wonderful experience on this beautiful island. The Aqua Hotel Molokai is ideally located on the south shore of Molokai. The restaurant is shoreside with a view of Maui. The open air tables afforded us a memorable sunset as we enjoyed our meal. The completely unexpected treat was the performance of the Moana’s Hula school. It was very well done, dignified, and totally enjoyable, unlike so many of the Disney-fied “hula shows” presented in other places. The hotel appears to be an older design, but it is well kept up, clean, inviting, and very comfortable. The entrance to our room was through a tropical garden, but just a few steps on the central lobby. The room itself, was smaller, but total functional, clean, pleasantly decorated, and very airy. The staff, from the check in to the giftshop to the restaurant to the grounds people that we came in contact with, were helpful, accommodating, interactive and very pleasant. All and all, the Agua Hotel Molokai was joy and we will certainly plan on staying there on future visits to Molokai.
