“Hummm...mixed: would have been ok, if CLEAN!”
It wasn't easy to find this place given the dual names of roads and poor Mapquest directions. I almost turned around twice thinking I was headed in the wrong direction. Even the complex office had no signage until you were already upon it. Blurb said "beachfront property"; well, the PROPERTY may have been, but the unit I was in was quite a distance away although I could SEE the ocean. It also said I'd receive relevent info BEFORE my date of travel, but didn't. And once I was there, learned that the nearest place to get something to eat was 30 min. away. There was no info available about area surroundings: beaches, stores, etc., and there wasn't a person on site to ask. The grounds could have used some "tending to": litter picked up, shubs pruned.. The overall condition of my condo itself wasn't bad, although they varied by unit. Mine had all the essentials, including a well equipped kitchen, coffee packet for the morning, etc. But it wasn't clean. There was spilled food in the microwave & the soap rack in the shower had caked soap on it. GROSS, and unneccessary. It didn't leave me feeling very good about the idea of sleeping in the bed! AND, SOMEONE TRIED TO ENTER MY UNIT FROM BOTH DOORS even though I had the lights on, tv going, curtains shut. It didn't make for a good night's sleep, as a woman traveling alone, staying at such a remote location.
“Nice view and peaceful stay”
If you are looking for convenience, go elsewhere. But if you are trying to go somewhere to stay out of touch, this can be the place. No one really bugs you, and that also means not much help is available. But the kitchen inside is very well equipped. The nearby beaches are very nice, although swimming isn't recommended due to rough waters. But they are very quiet and untouched.
“The hotel is great!”
we can`t wait to go back
“Depends what are you looking for - romantic or bussy holiday?”
The area is very nice, however there is no safe swimming near the accomodation. You have to drive dead horse beach 10 minutes or to walk 15 minutes to nearby sandy beach which is safe when calm seas. The whole area is secluded, there is no coffe, no shop, only basics like bread can be baught on site. To drive to nearist restaurant mens 30 minutes. The condos are of uneven quality, you have to go for deluxe ones to secure to have cooking facilities in this remote location. We had broken TV remote control and nobody was able to repair it within 7 days. The keys very in a box and we even did not meet any warden the whole week. But if you look for quiet place and romantic location, it is worth it. Our appartment was clean and the room service was regular and precise. Good for jogging, reading, loving, relaxing.
“worst experience of our lives”
Hotel appears to once have been a wonderful resort however nothing appears to have been done in the form of upgrades for many many years. Hotel management was non-existant. gounds were overgrown. rooms were dirty, geckos thoughout the room . appliances were old . no phone no internet no stores for food within any reasonable distance. beach unuabale. we stayed one night out of our scheduled 7 and only contacted resort management by courtesy phone. Another older gentleman was also checking out and said he had a horible weeks stay and could not find a manager for the entire time. . When one dreams of a Hawaiian holiday and is dealt this ..my wife cried for hours and didn't sleep all night . We flew to Honolulu the next day and stayed in a real hotel for the balance of our week.
“What A Dump”
This property is a run down collection of buildings, half of which are abandoned. (left to rot). There is no pool, bar, restaurant or other facilities you would normally find at a resort. The phones don't work and the housekeeping is marginal. Not worth half the price.
“Not okey”
Beautiful beaches close to the hotel, but the hotel is not good. The hotel is rated as 2 stars, that's to high.I would say 1+.
“Was OK but TV did not work all the time.”
OK.
“A very good place to stay for relaxation.”
The buildings that are used are mantained well, but the grounds around the empty building needs some care.
“Castle Kauakoi Villas”
We went for our 30th anniversary and had a great time. Our first room was not what we pictured and had no phone which we needed. We went to the office and requested a phone. Insted they gave us another room which was beautiful. When we went to get our belongings out of our first room the lock on the door didn't work. The management were very helpful and even helped us move our things to the other unit. The pool and golf course were closed, but that's not why we chose to stay there. The beach was within walking distance and all the people there were so very friendly. You need to remember that these units are very different for one to the next and need a little dusting when you arrive. We had a great time, as we chose this island BECAUSE IT WAS NOT COMMERCIALISED. We would stay there again.
