Nice hotel excellent staff

Posted May 25, 2015
Pros: The staff
Cons: Carpets on landings somewhat threadbare and in general decoration needs uplifting
Location: The location was no problem and the shuttle provided by the hotel comes in handy if you need to go into the main area of the town.
Enjoyed the hotel, staff were very good although the hotel is in need of updating the cleanliness was excellent, breakfast enjoyable and the pool was superb although you have to endure the adjoining helipad but the cost allowed for this on the whole enjoyed the stay very much.

Beautiful Views

Posted May 25, 2015
The hotel was very nice and the views were incredible. The hotel staff was rather rude and snubbish. When I asked for a reasonable option for transportation to the airport, the conceriage actually suggested the heliport down the street. His options were a private car, a helicopter or the bus. I'm not a wealthy person, but I could have afforded something between a private car and the bus.

Decent for the price

Posted May 25, 2015
Pros: Location.Price
Cons: Invest in upgrading infrastructure
I had no great expectation about finding affordable accommodation in Monaco.Hotel situated in a rather quiet area close to shopping and a Carrefour Supermarket.Room had great view but very small and the carpet looked like it was ready to be changed years ago.helpful staff.

Nice Hotel, friendly and helpful staff

Posted May 6, 2015
Pros: Really nice place to stay. We arrived early and were accommodated immediately even though we were 2 hours before check-in. The room was clean and the
Monaco is a delightful place to visit, very clean and obviously opulent. Be prepared to spend a little more than on the Costas haha..... excellent restaurants, in particular de Paris which is opposite the famous Monte Carlo casino, where I lost (sad emoticon), but enjoyed the experience. The whole of Monaco can be walked in an afternoon, no need for car hire, however, hire a Ferrari for the day and experience driving on the F1 track in a roaring monster. The only form of transportation that outdoes this is the helicopter transfer available from Nice airport....great fun.

Awful.

Posted Apr 26, 2015
This place is awful. Firstly, we've just returned and the weather in Monaco was quite warm during the day. We tried to work the air conditioning in our first floor room but it wouldn't work so we called reception and was told that we weren't allowed to use the air conditioning as the hotel only use it from May onwards. Surely, if a guest complains of a room being too hot and the hotel has air condirioning then the guest should be allowed to use it? What an absolute disgrace. Therefore, the room was rather uncomfortable due to the heat. The bathroom of our room was very dirty. There were stains on the ceiling which looked like water damage and the bathroom tiles were very dirty. The tiles either need cleaning properly or replacing. The water also leaks from the shower and the shower side isn't fitted properly so you end up with water all over the floor which could cause somebody to slip, especially if they're elderly. To compound our miserable to stay at The Columbus, we were awoken very early every morning and at numerous times throughout each morning by the cleaners and the noise from what appeared to be water pipes running through the hotel. The carpets leading trough the hotel looked shabby, the doors in the corridors were very heavy and slammed as soon as you let go of them. Overall, this hotel was a disaster. We were too hot and couldn't sleep due to the internal noise of the hotel. We won't return.

Nice hotel

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: The location is very pleasing and it is near to some smart restaurants and has a comfortable lobby.
Cons: There could be more variety of in the breakfast provided and it would be nice to have some light meals offered in the evening.
I have stayed in this hotel before, so I knew what to expect. Nice location and easy to use for transport. Unfortunately it is near the heliport so it can be quite loud at times. The rooms have all have a large balcony but there can be unwelcome visitors in large birds that can swoop in, a worry if you have children. That said the bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms cleaned well daily.

Affordable and comfortable stay in Monaco

Posted Apr 7, 2015
I spent the weekend in Monaco for the first time, and decided to try out the Columbus. The location is great, overlooking the Mediteranean and within walking distance of a bunch of restaurants and shopping areas. The wifi in the hotel is spotty, and in addition they could definitely use some renovations to the carpets and balconies. They claim to offer a van that you can use as a guest of the hotel. But the two times I requested it (drop off at the train station and casino), they refused. Overall, I recommend the hotel, but if you have the money then look towards the Fairmont and Marriott.

No promised shuttle service and no AC

Posted Mar 7, 2015
Bad experience, would not recommend it. No AC during a night of 21c degrees.

Dear Guest, we thank you for your review. The shuttle bus service is available upon request, and according to the avaibility. This is not a service with specific times. As for the AC, in France we do not switch the air cond with a temperature of 21°, this is winter and if the room was too hot for you, you still had the possibility to open the window. Most of the time our guests are happy to enjoy a mild winter on the Riviera. Best regards.C.
