Old School CharmPosted Feb 4, 2014
Pros: The beautiful grounds!
Location: Menton is a wonderful place. It's 10 minutes from Italy and 30 minutes from Nice. It's a beautiful safe town.
This hotel is a historic relic! It's like something from a 1940s movie. The grounds are magnificent and the building is beautiful. The room was small but comfortable and recently renovated. The place like the town has a certain decadent charm.

Hotel is about 50Euro by cab from monte carlo.Posted Sep 28, 2013
Pros: its old, a great building with character
Cons: more english signs, or flyers. Also what numbers to use on the phone to get reception or room service.
Location: its in a town call menton, which is 19k from monte carlo, easy, quick and cheap to access by train, 10 mins, taxi very expensive. Would stay again
big old hotel, with only one lift. Get the cab driver to drive up the side street where he can drive into the front of the hotel otherwise its a long walk. Very central location, its abit like an old peoples home as alot of older french stay there, along with other tourists, but very interesting, comfortable and quiet. Reception staff very friendly and helpful

Central hotel in lovely gardens.Posted Aug 22, 2013
Pros: The setting - the gardens - the spaciousness and grandeur.
Cons: There were no fridges in the bedrooms - needed in the summer months .
Location: Central location for both town and beach . Only a short walk to the station.aa
The hotel is set back from the road and has beautiful gardens with palms and lemon trees. The hotel looks impressive - palatial. I stayed in an annexe room in the villa - nice and quiet . The room itself was ok .There was basic wooden furniture . The bed was fine. The bathroom was modern with power shower, wash basin and toilet - ample room. The breakfast room was grand . The breakfast itself was fine . The hot dishes were nothing special but there were cereals , tasty croissants , yogurt , ham , cheese and fresh fruit etc . I would definitely stay there again if I could stay in the same room or a front facing room as the rear facing ones looked onto the railway track.

Tranquil and relaxing stayPosted Aug 21, 2013
Pros: The setting /the gardens - the grandeur .
Cons: Lack of fridges in bedrooms - ( would have been useful in August ! ) .
Location: Excellent . Set well - back in lovely gardens . Town centre. Rear of hotel faces railway line mind you.
This hotel is situated in the centre of Menton- minutes from the town centre and the beaches. The hotel is set well back from the road and has beautiful well- kept gardens with palms and lemon tres - secluded areas with benches - beautifully tranquil. The hotel building looks grand - like a palace . I ended up with a room in the annexe (villa) . It was fine - there was a double bed and basic wooden furniture .There was flat screen tv- french tv channels .The bathroom had a power shower, wash basin and toilet - clean and modern with ample room. The single rooms facing the back of the hotel were somewhat small and faced the railway track. The grand breakfast room was spacious and decorative - the grand hall . The breakfast was of a good standard .Hot and cold food available - very nice coffee and croissants. I would definitely stay in the hotel again as long as I had an annexe room or one facing the front of the hotel - a very relaxing stay !

GREAT STAY EXCEPT FOR NO ENGLISH!Posted Aug 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
Loved the hotel and the small town of Menton. The hotel is actually called L'Orangerie which was confusing at first. Its located 1-2 blks from the beach. Please be ware that most beaches in France has stones / rocks - no sand including this one. It's close to the train station and only 3 stops from Monte Carlo. The hotel is primarily for retirees which was fun to witness. They had an 80-ies disco party every night while we were there and our kids enjoyed that. The internet was a challenge and the staff did not speak much english. The breakfast was okay but not great.

Great LocationPosted Aug 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
I had a very nice stay in Menton with my wife and 3 teenage children. The hotel has a feeling of being from another era which we quite liked. The rooms are simple but comfortable and the breakfast very basic. The location is great, a short walk to a lively town with lots to do.

Good price for a nice hotelPosted Aug 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed in this hotel during our vacations for week. The room was spacious enough for me and my wife as well as our 5 years old daughter. The beds were nice and everything was very clean. The Breakfast was OK but not great. The only disappointment was that WiFi access was limited to the hotel lobby. The location of the hotel is good as it was in walking distance from the beach as well as city center full of restaurants and bars. At the same time this is a rather cheap part of the city so if you don't like lots of cheap restaurants filled with crowd, you will not like the location that much.
