OK for a stopover en route to Portland

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: size and location of room was good.
Cons: Cleanliness
Location: Premium Outlets are one hour to the north by car.
We arrived very early, the owner / clerk was busy taking orders by phone and didn't stop taking new calls even when he saw us waiting in front of him. Couple of phone calls later we were allowed to check in and got a nice room on the second floor. The room could have been cleaner, but the size and the facilities were alright. In total, we found it was not completely worth the money given the location and cleanliness, but factoring in the obvious demand, this might be a reason for the higher prices.

Good place for the price. Next time I will ask for a room away from the highway. our wall was not far from the road and a bit noisey.

The room in general was OK,, But not for the price. WiFi as advertised did not work. When we asked the office about it they were not at all concerned , and said it depends on your device?? We had 5 wifi devices NONE could get wifi. This was an important factor for us. The vending machines did not work. The box springs on the bed sage terribly, need updating. Advertised as a non smoking facility and a non smoking room, The first thing we could smell was cigarette smoke,,, Ughhhhh!

Convenience of location not worth it.

Pros: Lady at front desk was very nice. Location to Western University.
We stayed at this motel because it was close to Western University. It is the only motel in Monmouth. The front desk lady was very nice. The room was clean, but the bathroom had a bit of an odor. The bed was not very comfortable. The heater worked great, maybe a bit to well. We had to turn it off because it wouldn't turn down and stop running. So it was turn it on to heat things up and turn it off to let it cool down. Around 2 am was woken up by load noises and voices for about 20 min.. In the morning my husband went to take a shower, it took 10 min. for the water to heat up. Then the tub wasn't draining so there was about 5 inches of standing water. Needless to say I didn't get a shower. ( This may have been the reason for odor in bathroom.) Went to make coffee and there were no cups for the coffee. We were an early departure so I didn't have a chance to talk with the management about problems with the room.( the front desk does not open until 7 am ) Not only this but we paid as much for this room as we would have for a 3 or 4 star motel. I will find a motel in Salem and drive back and forth from now on.

Only one available in area

Posted Jan 11, 2014
Pros: The check in clerk was very friendly and helpful. It had a nice TV and good reception. It had WIFI There was a nice restaurant close by
Cons: The bedding really needs to be replaced and updated.
Location: It is near the college, and the little town of Independence is a fun town to shop. The area is really nice and is away from all the Salem traffic
The room was clean, but the bedding was old and the sheet was not fitted. There was a small coffee maker in the room but you had to move it out of the bathroom or it threw the breaker. There was no coffee available in the lobby, no breakfast, but there was a nice restaurant just across the parking lot. If you just need a bed in the area and you don't want to drive from Salem, you can make do.

We come every year & it's a good location but the highway traffic noise and hard bed kept us awake.

Will do in a pinch!

As they say, "you get what you pay for". Very basic, no frills but I can't complain about the cleanliness of the room.

A Small Towm Pleasant Surprise

Posted Aug 6, 2012
Pros: Clean room with comfortable bed
Cons: Noisy people in parking lot
Location: Near Western Oregon University
This was a surprise in small town Oregon. I had an early morning biking event staged at the university so I decided to come down the night before. I searched hotels and the Courtesy Inn was the only option in Monmouth, OR, otherwise I would have had to stay in Salem. Booking online was no problem and when I arrived my key was ready. The desk clerk was friendly and even offered to let me leave my car during the day while I was our riding. The room was very clean, to include the bathroom and shower. The bed was as comfortable as any major chain I have stayed in. There were a few noisy people in the parking lot, but the air conditioner offered enough white noise to eliminate that distraction. Bottom line...if you want a hotel in Monmouth this is as good as it gets and it is surprisingly nice for a local independant hotel. It was definitely a good value for the price and I would stay there again if I was in the area.
