Second time not as great as first

Posted May 11, 2015
Pros: Convenient location off highway
Location: Not much around that I saw but I did not explore. Gas station and Taco Bell right in front of hotel and McDonald's down the road very close by.
I stayed at this hotel on my way north last week and had such a great experience that I chose to stay again on my way back. I was surprised to find that I was not as pleased as I was the first time. First, the woman at the counter was pretty rude for no reason. When I asked for the price I noted that it was higher than the Expedia price so I told her that I would book through Expedia for the lower rate. She rudely replied as if I had offended her. I'm sorry but I am the one paying, and if booking online will save me money then I will do just that. This continued throughout the check-in process. She stressed the no smoking policy which I was fine with since I have never smoked anyway. However, I went out to my vehicle for my bags and came back in through the main entrance and she is standing at the door smoking. I don't usually mind smoke but I think that maybe having a smoking area away from the main door would be nice especially for employees who minutes before stressed a no smoking policy. Thankfully I did not have any more contact with the employee that checked me in but rather the nice employee that helped me last week so my stay ended well. Lastly, my only complaint about the room was that there were long dark hairs in the shower and in the sink.

Nice hotel just off highway

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: Convenient, clean, very friendly staff.
Cons: Outside walls that help block noise from train.
Location: Conveniently located right off of I-75. I saw a McDonald's and gas station within walking distance. I did not explore so I am unsure of anything else.
Enjoyed my brief stay in this hotel. First, the attendant that checked me in was extremely nice and helpful. My room was clean, bed was very comfortable and shower was clean and had good water pressure. The breakfast was also good and helped me get back on the road quickly since I didn't have to stop anywhere else to eat anywhere before heading out. There is also a McDonald's and nice gas station within walking distance. Check out was quick and easy, the staff, while I only spoke to them very briefly, were also very nice and friendly. This hotel is going through a transition from a Comfort Inn but that did not affect my stay at all which I am quite thankful for. The only thing I had a brief issue with was a very loud train that passed nearby at around 4am which woke me up but I am a very light sleeper so I would not say that it is a deal breaker as I was able to fall right back to sleep after it passed. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again if ever in the area.

Two nights in Monroe

Posted Dec 1, 2014 on Hotels
This is an older motel but still in reasonable good shape. The room was very clean and quite large. The pool and hot tub were fine. The employees were exceptional. The day clerk on the first morning came into the breakfast area and joked the gave several of the kids riddles to solve. We had a problem with our toilet and the maintenance man got right to fixing it. However when we left the following morning there was a different clerk working and she never said a word when we left. Not even "Have a nice day" or "Thanks for staying with us". That actually put a little damper on our stay at the motel. We will stay there again.

Weekend visiting kids

Posted Nov 12, 2014
Pros: Staff people were superb, full of enthusiasm, and willing to help in any way they could.
Cons: Breakfasts could be improved. Breakfasts were nothing to rave about, but adequate.
Location: Location was good, not in the middle of lots of hubbub, and it was nice and quiet
We flew into Detroit, arriving much earlier than anticipated. Rented a car and drove down 30 min to the motel. So we arrived long before normal check-in time. Was it a problem? Not at all. The room was ready and we were ready for it. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.

I wasnt impressed with the location. the walls were very thin and i was able to hear everything in the room next to me. The sheets were dirty and the bath tub was not cleaned. I was able to run hot water and watch the dirt disappear. Overall i was not that impressed, but i was there for a quick stop.

Good for the price I payed

It was a good hotel. Staff were very friendly although there was no one at the front desk when I left in the morning. The room smelled a bit smokey, even though it's a non-smoking hotel. Other than that, I had a pleasant stay.
