“Montebello Auberge”

This is an older property. The only speed bump was at check-in. The clerk did not speak English. The rooms were spacious and clean and everything worked. They should upgrade the wattage on the light bulbs since it was impossible to read anywhere else other than the bathroom. The hotel was quiet. The staff at breakfast was outgoing and professional. Overall a positive experience and I would stay here again.

Area recommendations
Montebello is a very small town in Quebec. We were attending a wedding at the Fairmont Montebello which seems to be one of the main reasons for tourist traffic. There were six wedding that weekend at the facility, which has tennis, a golf course, horseback riding, and many other activities on a 60,000 acre property.
Getting there
We flew into Ottawa and drove to Montebello. I secured a GPS from the car rental company since the Google Map directions were undecipherable by Ottawa residents. The ride to Montebello included a car ferry ($9) that crossed the Ottawa River, which is the boundary between Ontario and Quebec.

“Maybe it was off season”

It seemed we were a bit of trouble for everyone at the hotel, fruit was old (yesterdays left overs?), bread a little dried out, rooms lgithly cleaned not sparkling etc, got the feeling we were there "after hours" kinda.

Traveler's tip
Pub a few doors down was a surprise not a pub at all but rather a nice restaurant that also served good wine and beer in log house splendor
