Nice but could've been better

Posted May 25, 2015
Pros: Resort was secure and pools were very nice.
Cons: Website information could be more robust. Lack of detail with regards to what is included prior to and after upgrades.
Overall trip was just OK. The hotel's website information could be more robust. Lack of detail with regards to what is included prior to and after upgrades. For example, number of à la carte restaurant meals included based on number of days staying at the resort. Also, room service was unavailable to guests that weren't members of a club and couldn't even be ordered for a surcharge. Beaches were very rocky in some areas and depending on where you stayed on the resort, they were a good walk away from your room. Other than a couple of our servers, most of the staff did not seem very pleasant or happy. Rooms were clean, although housekeeping would forget one set of towels or forget to restock the complimentary minibar/bottled water. TV in the room didn't include a remote. Light above toilet in the bathroom did not work when we arrived, we requested it to be fixed as of day 1 and it was never fixed upon our departure.

Nice beach & Hotel

Posted May 21, 2015
The hotel is 2 years old so it's in great condition. Its 1 hour away from the airport. The hotel staff and the security are excellent. The restaurant reservations are not that great. You could only get 2 nights for the entire vacation. The other nights you eat at the buffet restaurant that is not that great. The beach is beautiful and the weather was great. I really enjoyed my vacation at this resort.

OK resort with horrible food

Posted May 17, 2015
We were "upgraded" to the Golden Club since we are Expedia VIP members. What a scam! There was nothing golden about it. From the unhappy woman who checked us in, to the unhelpful woman who could not check us out, everyone working at this resort clearly hated their job (with the exception of Michael at the Flamboyan Bar, who was the only person who smiled and interacted with us the entire time we were there). The room was comfortable, and the grounds were kept clean and attractive. The smaller beach by the gazebo had great snorkeling right off shore. The food at the Orchidea Buffet was mediocre. There was little variety between meals. Piscis Snack Bar was OK for lunch, as long as they didn't run out of jerk chicken (which happened to us twice in one week). The "free" hour per day WiFi doesn't work, and the computers in the Golden Club are extremely slow. If you purchase WiFi, you can get one week of access for $40 USD, and it works very well. The drinks are generally weak, and they use the cheapest alcohol. But, if you're in the Don Pablo section, you will get all the top shelf alcohol you want, plus the best seating around the pool and the beach. I think you have to be a timeshare owner to get this benefit, though. You'll the opportunity to get a timeshare with them, because you will be approached 50 times (not exaggerated) to go to their "anniversary celebration" AKA timeshare scam.

Plumbing issues

Posted May 4, 2015
Upon arrival I was informed that I was getting a room upgrade. Instead I was assigned a group to get me to go to a 3 hour presentation to buy timeshare in their property. When I get to the room it smell like a dirty mop. That night the toilet wouldn't work. Someone came to fix it and just wiped over the mess with a dirty mop. Didn't use any cleaning product. The next day the toilet overflowed and I had to change my room to a smaller twin size when I had a king. Also, mold issues everywhere.
