Great service

Posted May 24, 2015
Pros: Service
Cons: Some things looked a little run down, Internet was really slow, if it decided to work at all.
Location: On the beach, really close to Ocho Rios.
Our service was wonderful, best vacation I've taken so far.

Wouldn't go back

Very small beach. Rooms are very outdated and the beds are like sleeping on the hard ground. Poor quality

Perfect Jamaican Vacation!

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: We liked the room, grounds, pools, and very friendly service! Food and drinks were excellent. We also liked the coziness of the entire property.
Cons: No improvement needed; wish we had more time to stay longer.
Location: Resort is close to Dunn's River Falls, Mystic Mountain/Bobsled, and Ocho Rios shopping. The Bob Marley tour is a bit further but worth the experience.
Our experience with this resort was excellent from the very start. As soon as you exit the airport, their staff is ready, with signage, to shuttle you to the resort. The 1 1/2 hour drive from the airport to the resort is well worth it. Our driver even made a pit stop for us to take a picture of a very nice bay and take a shot of white rum. Good way to start a vacay! Upon arrival, we were greeted with cold moist towels and an adult beverage. Both refreshing after a long flight! Overall, the food at all restaurants was great. The drinks were equally as good; not watered down. The Platinum restaurant had amazing food. Take note that the dress code is enforced and 'silence is golden'. Our group entered the venue a bit rowdy and were suggested to take it down a notch. The resort offered daily/nightly activities which were fun, i.e. beach party BBQ, beach bonfire, etc. The night club, we felt, catered to our group playing great jams we enjoyed; basically had the place to ourselves. Shout out to June at the Tour/Excursion desk; she took really good care of us. Book tours through the resort; so easy! Second shout out to Roger at the Emerald Tree Lounge; awesome drinks! The only thing we couldn't find was the ice machine. Eventually, room service brought us the ice. Upgrading to the Diamond tower is SO worth it! Amazing room, view, bathroom with jetted tub, and bar. Check in/out was a breeze. Pools were outstanding. The beach was nice; a bit rocky for my taste. Can't wait to return!

For a small resort it was excellent - loved the staff - the food - the drinks - the service - only thing I would say the Jewel needed is clean the beach of all the rocks, music piped in throughout the resort - small stuff but would enhance the resort more - I would stay at the Jewel again.

Great resort

Posted May 17, 2015
The resort as a whole is great. The food is better than the typical all inclusive resort. The free bus ride to and from the resort is absolutely horrible. It was almost two hours long and was jam packed in a tiny OLD bus that was about to break down. We had to stop at serval resorts to drop and pick people up. About 50% of the staff is extremely friednly while the other half is rude. The beach is nice but small, however they have nice variety of water activities. The hotel is older but still has a nice charm to it. Not sure we will return.

Pros: Very friendly accommodating staff
Cons: Pool Grill menu needs to be expanded
Location: Not a good location for snorkling
Overall great experience, nice room, clean, excellent staff. Staff was very friendly and took time to answer our questions and share knowledge of local trees and plants we were not familiar with and were willing to get you anything you need. Enjoyed the resturants, but make reservations at the Japanese resturant as soon as you get there or even before you arrive. We waited until two nights before we were to leave and were not able to get reservations. Be prepared for the hour and 1/2 ride from the airport. Shuttle buses were comfortable and the ride was pleasant. Recommend you print tickets and check baggage online in the hotel computer facility, made the airport experience smooth when leaving. Carry a pen. The airline gives you forms to fill out for customs on the way in, but do not provide pens. Everyone was sharing the pens available.
