Friendly staff - Solid Value

Initially disappointed our "ocean view" room overlooked trees, the staff switched us to a great room quickly. Great food, fun staff, particularly Raymond at water sports spot. Thanks!

Nice resort but could be better

Posted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: Staff were always there to help; very upbeat, always smiling and outgoing. The resort was also very well maintained. A nice 4 star resort.
Cons: The day we left it rained. The resort did not offer much indoor activities for rainy days. They should have alternate activities listed just in case.
Location: We went to Luminous Lagoon one night; however, it was about an hour ride by bus. Unfortunately, activities usually required a decent length bus ride
This was our first trip for me and my wife out of the country and we were a little skeptical of what to expect once we arrived. Once we got out of the airport you have to endure an hour and a half bus ride to get to the resort. This was much longer than we we saw when we originally booked the trip (45 minutes). However, once we arrived, we were pleased as the resort was well maintained and the staff were extremely helpful. Orientation was the next day (11:00am) so since we arrived in the afternoon, we were left to walk around and try to figure out where things were and so forth. For food, the restaurant selections were ok, although a couple more options would have been optimal since a one week stay means eating at the same places a few times (which gets old quick). The resort had a small beach and two pools, spas, small golf course, tennis courts, shuffle board, basketball court, billiards table, dart board, and gym for activities. However, if it rains there really aren't many activities on the schedule to have fun since most activities are based outside. We stayed in the Sapphire section and the room was quite nice. It had a small fridge stocked with drinks, although snacks would have been a great addition since the gift shop charges quite a lot for a bag of chips, candy, etc. There was also a great view of the ocean from the balcony as well. All in all the resort was a great place for adults to sit back, drink, relax and soak in some sun either by the pool or the beach.

Beautiful hotel...worth the money

Posted Nov 20, 2014
Stayed here in 1 week in November. ..the hotel was very beautiful..Lobby is huge & lots of wood furniture. . the Grounds were spacious & very green! The best rooms to take are in.. the 2 storey building. ...The condo looking ones, lack character Main buffet restaurant serves great food all times of the day...The Italian style & the Caribbean restaurants are the best bet....I would avois the Japanese style one...as its not worth all the so called "hype & fireworks" surrounding it..its also the onlt restaurant that needs a reservation all the time Food & Bar staff are the hardest working & most likeable staff...I find the front desk staff/ concierges effective in their day to day tasks ...but I find them lacking the warmth & friendliness the rest of this resorts cleaners/grounds keepers & Food & beverage staff seem to possess naturally

Outstanding hotel by the beach.

Great food. Great service. Clean. The buffet for breakfast and dinner was great. The hot tubs are spacious as well as the pools. The brick oven pizza made fresh are delicious.

Best Choice

Posted Nov 18, 2014
We were pleasantly suprised when pulling up to the hotel on the shuttle. This hotel was much better than the other 4 we had stopped at to let passengers off. Jewel Dunn's made my honeymoon perfect. The service was impeccable and more than satisfactory for our every need. The private beach was an added plus so that we may relax in peace. Nightly shows and activities were entertaining and fun to attend. The smaller size of the hotel was delightful because we were able to see the same couples and staff daily and have a more personal expierence. My husband and I plan on coming back very soon. I would recommend this hotel anyway.

This hotel was typical of most all inclusives I've been to. Hotel was clean and updated. Food was above average, very good in the a la carte restaurants. Pool and beach were nice, plenty of loungers and umbrellas. And. ... There was booze in the drinks!

Absolutely a great stay

Loved every day spent here. The resort is perfect in so many ways. Staff is very pleasant and engaging, the food is wonderful and full of choice menus, the grounds is well kept and comfort around the resort is made for relaxation. Night life after 10pm is minimal but the Bling club on the grounds stay open till 2 pm for clubbing. There is also a late grill and bar for latenight chats. It's all good here.

Diamond suite

Posted Nov 9, 2014
Pros: The size of the hotel is as small but big enough to explore
Cons: Night time entertainment has room for improvement
Location: I did not venture into ocho rios town on this stay as I was satisfied with the amenities of the hotel, however there is plenty to see and do outside
The hotel is excellent we were totally impressed with the suite in the Diamond we stayed in room 3418 The view was outstanding. All staff are genuinely friendly and will never pass you without saying morning hello etc, which for me can make a holiday. The night time entertainment was fair, but if you are real party popper you would then need to venture outside of the hotel. The hotel cleanness is of a high standard and the staff take pride in what they do. The beach is kept immaculate, whilst I was there over night a lot rubbish , seaweed had washed up on the beach, and by 8.30am it was totally immaculate unlike Riu next door which looked a total mess! We would diffinatly stay again. If you are planning to stay at The Jewel I recommend any room with an ocean view

Just an average Hotel

Posted Nov 9, 2014
Pros: We enjoyed the staff. The entertainment staff does a great job with activities.
Cons: The rooms seem outdated. They need more staff around the pools and beach to help bring drinks.
Location: Its the closest hotel to Dunn's River Falls but the furthest from the airport. Its a long bus ride to get to and from the airport.
We just got back from a trip to the Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort. We chose this resort based on user feedback. Overall it was just an average hotel. The beach is very small. The rooms seemed small to us. The entertainment staff and all other staff are very nice and do a great job. Food was better than average. I wouldn't spend the extra money for the concierge service. The only difference we saw was there is alcohol in your room. There wasn't anyone readily available to help us. The Butler service may be different.
