“can't wait to go back”

This is the tirth time we go there because: excelent service, people very friendly, food very good, close to the airport. we love it!!

“good value”

My husband and I went here for the second half of our honeymoon. The service was fantastic and the hotel was great value. The room did have a musty smell but you got used to it. The food was average but totally fine, but the specialty restaurants were great. The alcohol from the bar was watered down but you had 4 bottles of hard liquor in your room if u really wanted to get drunk. Not bad overall. The Sandals was double the price and we could see it from our beach...so they had the same views and weather.

“Fall vacation 2011”

The hotel staff was great, the price was great, the shows were great (especially the MJ tribute), the food good and the drinks were flowing (though I had to keep asking for extra rum) The two negatives I have are the musty smell of the rooms and the tiny ANTS that no matter how much they sprayed or I wiped things down, kept returning! This was my 2nd time in Jamaica. I stayed at the RIU in Ocho Rios before which was a little better. Think I'll try another resort on my next visit

“Each rooms don't have wireless internet”

Internet is available in only lobby. Also my room doesn't have a microwave oven and a kettle to prepare baby food for my baby. Without them, staying at RIU was almost perfect.

“Vacation to remember”

My family and I have been taking our yearly vacation to Montego Bay for over ten years. This is our first visit to RIU and must say we were very impressed with the rooms, the facilities and fell in love with the entertainment staff. Sunday's Michael Jackson's tribute was a hit. Monday's steel band performance was spectacular , Tuesday's beach party was really great, second best to Wednesday's movie night showcase. We were very impressed with the performance of the talented entertainment staff. Broadway's finest. Even with the power surge, the show went on flawlessly. Very impressed witht the teasers leading up to the show with the characters visit to the dining hall and lobby in their costumes. Big shout out to yellow man, Slim and all the fabulos dancers and house dj. Work on the house singer. We were not impressed witht the restaurant service, expected full service restaurants when compared to the other six resorts we stayed at in the past. We loved the main dining hall, great variety of diversed food selections. Loved the cucumber, calaloo and ginger juice. Loved the daily water aerobics class with yellow man and the endless waterpolo games. More advertisement of the daily activitiies would be great. Too reliant on the lobby notice board. More nicely groomed Spa workers would probably bring in more customers, they stood around alot. Not impressed with the seawater leading up to the beach Overall, enjoyed our stay and will recommend to our friends.

Food was good, hotel was really clean, beds were a little hard, entrainment was good, was a little dissapointed with the resturants that required reservations in the resort as they were also buffet style overall had a really great time would recommend

“Ok for price”

Pros: - staff were generally helpful - close to airport ($20 taxi fare) - nice beach overall, though there is seaweed etc in the ocean; easy to find a good spot to lounge around b/c not crowded during november - affordable massages, including by oceanside - minibar with liquor, for those who are inclined; all drinks from the bar otherwise very watered down Cons: - lack of variety of food compared to other resorts, occasionally with one or two better dishes, but the rest were unappetizing and I've worried about getting sick from the food (but did NOT). Steak house was the best of the specialty restaurants, skip Asian. Jerk chicken on the beach for lunch is good, though can get old. - hard mattress, REALLY worn down comforters that have seen better days, old TVs; bathrooms were renovated though. - staff will try really hard to sell you additional svcs, like a booze cruise for more $$ - property is small, only one central pool; it is well designed but would have been nice to have several spots to hang out - entertainment at night is not good - Montego bay does not have any outside tourist attractions in the area Not the most luxurious resort, and foodies will have trouble accepting the quality of the food... but still a reasonable spot to camp out for a couple of days if on a budget. Otherwise would look elsewhere for a more pampering experience.

“"Might Go Back"”

I recently stayed in the RIU fo my vacation in Jamaica. I stayed at the MoBay resort which was in a great location, however its expensive. Take lots of US money. My room was ok, but there were small little roaches that would pop up every now and again. The food was ok, however it wasn't much native dishes, it was more American foods, which is ok if you are in America. I would have preferred a little more variety on local dishes. Then there isnt anywhere to eat after 10pm if you want a late night snack, which sucked. Also I mentioned earlier that you need lots of US cash. I knew prices would be expensive, however I was not impressed when I wanted to go less than 8mins down the street and it costed me $20 US each way. Or a trip to a club will cost you $40 US each way. I would recommend this hotel if someone wants to stay at an all inclusive resort and doesnt mind American food all the time. However that person shouldn't want to venture off and do their own thing as it would cost you loads of cash. This couple should be semi-retired and not want to do anything but sun bath. They should also note that most of your money will go on transportation and tips. If you are young and want to get out and have a good time, then find somewhere more economic to stay. Its not worth it and considering how expensive the rooms where I expected a little more.
