Beautiful Hotel With Man Made Beach

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: The Cleanliness Of The Hotel
Cons: Hotel Staff Needs To Be Pleasant And Hospitable
Location: They have nearby attractions like Dunn's River Fall and MargaritaVille
This Hotel Is Very Nice And Comfortable The Hotel Staff Is Ok Not Very Friendly. I Was Surprised At The Variety Of American Process Foods Instead Of A lot Of Traditional Island Food.

paradise, beautiful, I LOVE the RIU Ocho rios.

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: THe beach is the highlight of this hotel. great rooms, LRG pool with SWIM UP BAR! the hotel is updated with beautiful gardens. The staff is friendly.
Cons: The ATM was broken while we were there which was inconvenient for us because we ran out of cash to tip people at the end of our stay.
Location: The beach is beautiful, it is close to margaritaville and the dunn river falls.
We stayed at the RIU ocho rios in june 2015. This is an updated hotel with beautiful details everywhere you look. The entire trip I could not get over how beautiful the beach was. The ocean is that caribbean aqua color and the sand is powdery and feels great for barefoot walks. Surprisingly you can see the sun rise from this beach, we woke up every morning and watched sun rise, but only 2 days were they colorful but it made it worth it. They only last about 5-8 minutes so if you are too late you will miss it. The pools are clean with built in beds for laying out, a swim up bar, stools and tables in the water, infinity pool, and music. The bar guys will come up to you if you are on the beach and serve you drinks. They also have beach volly ball, corn hole, and horse shoes on the beach. The rooms were great, we stayed on the deluxe side because we didn't want to be splashed by kids in the pool which was nice. The deluxe side also comes with free wifi, while the family side you will have to pay or use the free wifi in the lobby. The rooms come with a bathtub with jacuzzi jets, a balcony, and a lower area with a couch and TV. We did two excursions while we were there, The catamaran cruise to margaritaville and the dunn river falls, and the bio illuminance tour. The dunn river falls was a lot of fun but was very crowded which took away from the experience, but the catamaran was the highlight of the trip. You have to sit in the net on the way back, it was so much fun to get splashe

The beach and staff were amazing.

Posted Jun 10, 2015
Pros: The staff and entertainment
Cons: More comfortable beds and better food.
Location: The location was fantastic. The beach and view were breath taking.
The beach and staff were amazing. The pool closes at 6 every night which is very disappointing. The beds are very hard. The nightly entertainment was great! And the food was just average.

Hotel was beautiful! Food wasn't the best at all. The bed in the room was very hard to sleep on for a week. Activities were limited.

Disappointing!

Posted Jun 9, 2015
The beach is great and big, sand is clean. The beach is the best part about the hotel. The housekeeping staff are atrocious. Missing towels until evening, the housekeeping staff are terrible on communication amongst each other. Food at the buffet is so so, significantly lacking in taste. Food and service at the specialty restaraunts is not great at all. Skip the specialty restaurants that require reservations. The bars are OK, some drink mixes (for example pina colada) are premixed already. This may be an expectation from a 3 star hotel, not a 4 star. I've stayed at numerous other Riu resorts all over Mexico and has always been pleased. I was very disappointed with the Riu Ocho Rios and will not be able to recommend it to anyone.
