Lovely hotelPosted Sep 13, 2014
Cons: Free Wifi was allowed only for 90 mins a day....this was a huge deal breaker. I would prefer that the additional cost be added to my itinerary
A very nice refreshing experience, enjoyed my time at RIU Ochoa Rios. Food was great, staff was wonderful, accommodation fantastic

Hotel on beach.Great location in Ocho RiosPosted Sep 12, 2014
Pro's:Great staff, great beach, great location in Ocho Rios, very happy with the adults ONLY side NO kids what so ever.Con's:HARD BEDS, paid for ocean front received pool view partial beach view, very blend food EXCEPT for their jerk chicken which was only on the 1 side of the beach.Very little food for specialty dinners if the specialty dinner wasn't buffet style. No air conditioning anywhere except for rooms.Off is a MUST a lot of bugs.Gift shop at hotel OVER PRICED.Overall I give the hotel a 6 out of 10.If your looking more towards luxury this is not the place for you.

Not Terrible, but DisappointingPosted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: The beach and pool. Liked it was a short drive to Dunns River Falls
Cons: Update Hotel, Better Food Selections
Location: Dunns River Falls was only 10 mins from the Hotel- and by far the best part of our vacation.
Not worth it. It wasn't terrible, and the staff was pretty friendly. Rooms are clean but so outdated. The power would go off in our entire hallway multiple times a day. The food was the same stuff every day- no themes, and nothing special. The best part of it was the beach and the pool. They charge you if you lose your room key or towel card. You are only allowed one towel at the pool/beach and need to turn in your towel for you card- otherwise you get charged. Spa and gym were very small and a lot of the machines were broken. You can only make a reservation for one of he specialty restaurants 4 times- so you have to eat off the buffet for the rest (not the best). Compared to our last vacation to Punta Cana- Hard Rock Hotel (AMAZING- and comparable pricing), this year's vaca at the RIU was completely disappointing.

Riu Ocho RiosPosted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: The staff was all very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Adult only Deluxe area and liked the pool as well as the free wi-fi in the rooms.
Cons: The entertainment needs to be improved.
Location: Dunns River, market in town, swimming with dolphins.
Very nice location for an all inclusive hotel. The room was spacious and had a view of the ocean and pool. Room had a big bed, bathroom and couch in a sitting area. Food was great in the restaurants however you could only go to the specialty restaurants once. The buffet had a variety of choices. I liked that there were paddle boats, hobie cats, snorkeling and kahaks that you could rent for free. Spa services were great. Free hot tubs and saunas in the spa area.

Relaxing and Fun trip, well worth itPosted Aug 29, 2014
My wife and I (mid twenties) really enjoyed the trip. We stated at Riu in Cabo as well and likes it so we chose it again, and would go to Riu again. The hotel/location provided fun, relaxation, and romance all in one. Tushima and the Steakhouse were great dinners, the buffet was also good. Bring something to dress nice in or you may feel out of place at the dinners (pants and a collared shirt- dress/skirt). Beach was amazing and felt like bath water! We went to Dunns Falls and the Blue Hole, we felt the falls was a waste of money compared to the Blue Hole- great time and staff. Bring small bills to leave tips, it's optional but you will want to tip with the great service provided. We also paid for the ocean view room, so glad we did! We also stayed on the adults only side which was nice for us with not having kids, but the other side would be great for families.
