Gorgeous hotel on the beach with great staffPosted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: the staff was fun and friendly, great location on the beach, cleanliness of the hotel
Cons: More options for food.
Location: Dunns River Falls is a must see
We booked our honeymoon in February at the Riu Ochos Rios. It was an amazing trip! The food was good, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was a blast! We had so much fun with them! Snorkeling was pretty. It is a little crowded, but we didn't have any trouble finding a chair by the beach or pool. We had an ocean front suite with a beautiful view. It does get a little loud at night with all the weddings (there was about 4 weddings a day when we were there), but it didn't keep us awake at night. The adults only side is much more appealing. It is fun and relaxing. The other pool gets a little too crazy with kids. The drinks were really good, but I wish they had more than just red stripe for beer. We took the scuba boat tour to Dunns River Falls. That was a blast and a great experience! It is worth the money! The weather was perfect when we were there. It rained the day we were leaving, but it was really sunny and warm again by 11am. Overall a great experience! I wouldn't recommend it for a honeymoon, but it was so much fun!!

Nice beachPosted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: Very nice staff and clean.
Cons: Wish the hot tub wasn't part of the spa. You had to make an appt to use and spa closed at 6 pm. It was nice after our visit to the Blue Hole.
Location: Rented a driver for the day and went to the Blue Mountains to visit Alex Twyman's Old Tavern Coffee Estate. Also visited the Blue Hole.
Beach was nice and wasn't bothered by people trying to sell things. Great snorkeling right off beach. Lots of food choices even for picky eaters.

Nice hotel right off the beach.Posted Feb 17, 2015
Location: Dunns river falls 5 minutes away, zip lining within 10 minutes away.
Even though it rained every day on our stay it was a great get away. The hotel it self was beautiful, the pools and swim up bar were really nice. The food was average but not bad. We were unable to book a reservation at the gourmet restaurants which may have been impressive :/ I suggest the first thing you do when checking in is book your dinner reservations for the entire stay otherwise you will end up at the buffet every night due to how quickly they fill up. Another con would be how damp the rooms were. Maybe because the rain we encountered but either way the wet feeling was very uncomfortable and all of our clothes and sheets ect. were wet. The beach each day would fill up with rubbish from the water but the staff did a good job of cleaning it each day. Over all a pleasant stay. Visiting the Dunns river falls is a must! Zip lining was a blast as well.

Great place, that's why we keep coming backPosted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: The Riu is always very clean. The staff always go out of their way for you. I feel like I'm home every time we arrive. We will continue to visit year
Cons: Maybe some of that wonder Jamaican coffee in the room. Bring back the freedom to smoke.
Location: It's a little far from the airport, but it's a great scenic ride. worth it. There are a lot attractions near by.
We always have a great time at Riu's hotels. The staff is so out going and remember us by name. Everything is centrally located and fast and easy to get to. The food is wonderful and such a great selection. the Jerk hut on the beach is something I look forward to every day..

All Inclusive Hotel Right on the BeachPosted Feb 8, 2015
We have vacationed in Mexico for the past 24 years in a row so we were looking for something different. Jamaica is a wonderful place to take your vacation. The RIU in Ocho Rios is a lovely resort. It is well maintained, very clean and the staff is very friendly. They will go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. We upgraded to the Junior Suite in the Adult area of the hotel. We had an excellent view of the pool along with the ocean. Very pretty! The food is above average and they have enough food diversity to keep you pacified for the duration for your entire vacation. The pool areas are very well maintained and the water is very clean & refreshing. It is a very large resort with evening entertainment, work out room & spa, shopping and beach activities. It is right on the ocean with good snorkeling in front of the resort.

Fun, affordable resort. Great value.Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: The open air lobby and common areas were amazing. The beach was immaculate, the swim up bar in the pool was a lot of fun and the staff was friendly.
Cons: The buffet food was pretty terrible, food was rarely fresh.Reservations for ala carte dining were booked for several days out but well worth it.
Location: We liked the location. Bus ride from the airport was only $25/person. Lots of off-property activities that could be done nearby.
Overall, we had a great time during our stay. The open air lobby and the staff were extremely welcoming. The rooms were good but not great, but we weren't there to spend time our room. Fridge was well stocked, including beer & liquor. The pool area was clean and well kept, the swim up bar was great and there was plenty of seating available to socialize in the bar area. The beach was great, free of trash and the sand was soft and easy to walk on. The buffet food would have been better in smaller batches, made more often. Some of the food had been in the warming trays for what seemed like several hours. Dinner reservations were difficult to make, as the restaurants were booked several days in advance but well worth it. The restaurant food was very good. Ocho Rios was nearby, lots of off-property activities were available. Dolphin Cove, ziplining, Dunn River Falls, Fern Gully & in-town shopping were available within 15 minutes of the resort.

Wonderful StayPosted Jan 25, 2015
Pros: Breakfast buffet, staff, beach, and jerk chicken hut on the beach (we loved it).
Cons: The dinners at the speciality restaurants need a great deal of improvement. We will not do those on our next trip.
Location: Dunns River Falls, Luminous Bay, and the beach (quiet and serene).
From the time we entered the spacious open air foyer we knew that this hotel was well worth the ride from Montego Bay airport. The staff that greeted us were warm and welcoming and answered all of our questions. One staff member especially made our trip wonderful her name is Kernian. She works the front desk. I had mentioned that we'd be here during my husbands birthday and she on her own arranged for a birthday cake and champaign to be delivered on his special day. We also enjoyed the day trip excursions that are available. We plan to stay here again in the not too distant future.
