Not what I was expecting at all.

Posted Jul 23, 2015
I was very disappointed to get there and get a room with only 1 bed . We have 2 kids and were expected to sleep in the room with 1 bed. The pool closed at 6pm. And it was not very clean.

Nice hotel but needs renovation in some rooms

Posted Jul 15, 2015
My room was rarely cleaned to my liking. I couldn't walk around the room without slippers on because then dirt would cake up on my feet. They don't like to change the sheets. One day I got so annoyed I pulled all the pillow cases off and three them on the floor. I know it's a tropical country but omg with the mosquitoes in the room! We were killing at least 7 a day and still woke up covered in bites! The wifi was a rip off. For each device we had to pay $50 to get wifi on the hotel grounds for 7 days. That thing will constantly kick you out every few minutes and you have to keep putting in a log in password. Annoying! The hotel offers 90 free minutes a day of wifi but you must remain in the lobby. The pool is nice but I feel as if they never cleaned it. Either that or they don't use enough chlorine. I never put my face in the pool water. Yuck. Not when you can see everyone's lotion caking up in the corner. One of the restaurants St. Ann was my favorite. They have the best food. The beach was cute but they need to clean it. I'm not going to say this isn't a nice hotel but I will say I expected much more from the Riu.

Never Will I EVER Stay At a RIU Again!!!!

Posted Jul 13, 2015
I'm going to keep this really short since there's a character limit: -liquor wasn't replenished in the room as it should've -room wasn't cleaned and toiletries replenished as it should've -front desk was rude and told us rooms were sold out for another month and a half but we extended our stay on Expedia two minutes later -management escorted my fiancé into the office accusing him of not being a guest until he showed proof of BOTH rooms on both ends of the hotel that we booked during our stay. -oh, and the wifi wasn't working our first night, my family tried calling the hotel to inform us of a rehearsal dinner and no one picked up the phone. Imagine their worry, distant land with no means of communication. NEVER STAY HERE!!!! Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone!!!

My husband and I as well as some other family members had the time of our lives at Riu. We would not hesitate to recommend this fabulous hotel to anyone. The staff were very down to earth and extremely friendly. I'm actually gonna miss a few of them.

RIU Ocho Rios Resort - already planning next trip!

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: The shows and entertainment, sports bar/casino area, various games and friendly staff. Drinks and buffets were great, and dinner reservations good too
Cons: Pools all close at 6pm, even on the adult side... WHY? There could at least be a pool party event or something for extended hours once in awhile.
Location: Cheaper shopping downtown (Ocho)..take a taxi from the RESORT door is $20, OR just walk to the road and get a taxi for $2. Yeah. Really. 2 bucks :)
The easiest, fastest check in experience I have EVER had anywhere, in any country, city or state. Bags tagged and sent to your room (although ours didn't make it there, we just picked them up and took them ourselves). Long walks depending on where your room is located, so be SURE to ask to see how close it is to the elevators if you have medical issues or elderly with you. The shows and entertainment were AWESOME! There is something new everyday, activities etc, and the VIEW of the ocean from each room is exceptional to say the least. Definitely returning. Have discussed with others of choosing RIU Montego Bay vs. Ocho Rios... no comparison. Ocho Rio RIU hands down simply related to layout, even if MB is newer. Robe in room, Free wifi, in Adults Only side so no kids (left my 4 at home for a reason!) with Adult pool, but went over to the "kid side" for lots of fun activities as well, also great buffets on their side as well. NOT TO MENTION to Jerk Hut with its Jerk Chicken and Barbecue Chicken sauce O. M. G.... DON'T SKIP IT! Cooked right on the beach everyday around noontime. Must try. So many great things to say. The "discoteque" was pretty good most nights, and will take requests. Must say that drinks flowed freely, but only one incident that I can recall for our entire stay of someone being a problem, and the staff handles things well in that case. Go to town for shopping, the gift shop is highly overpriced to the prices in the city. Ex. XS T=$14 vs. $3 in town. EPIC TRIP
