Quiet hotel with mostly friendly staff

Posted May 13, 2015
The hotel is located just a short drive from downtown Ocho Rios along a quiet, private beach. For the most part the staff were very accommodating, but at times were begrudging about it (there was no key for the safe in my room. When I asked for a room with a key it seemed to be an imposition based on the reaction. I was ultimately given a different room with a key for the safe but only after a bit of attitude. Also, the phone in the room doesn't make outgoing calls. They seemed annoyed any time I asked to use the phone for local calls) This hotel doesn't often have buffet mealtimes (only twice while we were there) but the a la cart menu was decent, and covered most of the basics. The beach was very clean with white-ish sands, but the chairs could use a power washing; lay a towel over it and good to go. The room was also very clean aside from a few ants here and there, but they get in our house at home too so it wasn't a big deal. Overall a nice place that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a quiet and relaxing stay while being close to many tourist attractions.

Pros: Quiet and great location. Love the rooms. Great for couples. Nothing much to do.
Cons: The hotel building is very old and moldy
The experience was ok. I was disappointed with the food and the condition of the hotel. It's a little old and moldy. It's also very quiet. Not much to do. However, i enjoyed the beach front room and the service of the staff.

Great beach but dingy hotel

Posted Apr 28, 2015
The facility may have been state of the art in the 1950's but has long past it's glory days. It is in run down shape. It's an antique that has not been restored. The staff was friendly. The beach was stunning.

It was good. In general the staff was polite

Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: The quietness was what I like the most.
Cons: The cleaning of the bathroom. The Bath needing a proper washing.
Location: Was not very interested because I needed some well deserved rest.
Overhaul it was good. I had a little problem with the choices on the menu it was very limited.

A little Disappointing

Posted Apr 5, 2015
Pros: Staff, chef and very Jamaican style.
Cons: Condition of hotel, bathrooms especially very poor. WI-FI service was not working on evenings and mornings. Keep activities promises.
Location: Its close to shopping center and most of attractions.
Wen we arrive to the hotel instead 2 beds room they give us 1 king size bed. Even when I was conforming that we'll get 2 beds. They kept tell us they will switch rooms but all of them were different that what we expected. If I would know well get one bed instead of two beds I would not stay in this hotel. I'm glad i was with my son so we end up sharing the bed. We tried to enjoy as much as e could. Overall condition of the hotel is pretty poor however I believe they remodeling. The only activities you can do is kayaking and we expected more. Pretty good place for couples but unfortunately no activities for kids. Staff excellent, they pretty much made re stay pleasant. The best chef ever, food was excellent. Overall we enjoyed are stay.

Needs maintenance..

Posted Mar 28, 2015
Pros: Beach was right there.
Cons: The elevator needs to be rectified...
Location: Well, it was our mini-honey moon so we just stayed on campus and enjoy the great atmosphere.
The hotel is rather close to beach; however, the elevator was so outdated that my hubby and I took stairs during our stay there. The staff is nice overall. Really enjoyed the lovely garden. Breakfast was the best, our favorite of all the meals.

Dissapointing Experience

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: decent food, beachside massage, room cleanliness/location
Cons: Quality of hotel/security staff. customer service.
Location: Unknown, she was told she shouldnt leave the resort area.
I sent my wife on a long weekend to the resort to escape the bitter New England winter and she had a dissapointing experience. Overall, she was satisfied with the location and room cleanliness but was unimpressed with the hotel/security staff. She was constantly sexually harassed by a member of security and was barred from amenties because she was a single female at the resort. She was told she couldnt go to the bar area in the evening if she wasnt going to drink and was told to go back to her room at 7:00 each night. The water activities booth was unmanned and she didnt get to utilize any of the recreation opportunities. There was no shuttle at the airport resulting in a $125 taxi fare to the hotel. They never told her that she had to schedule a return shuttle in advance, again resulting in a $125 taxi fare back to the airport. Rooms had no shampoo or other hygiene products available; giftshop to buy products was closed. Will not recommend to friends.

Old hotel

Posted Mar 12, 2015
Pros: The room was comfortable and clean. The food choices were limited, but the food was good.
Cons: See my experience above.
Location: Shop in Ocho Rios, Saw Park Gardens, Dunes River Falls
The hotel is older, with many signs of needed repairs. There is only one bar next to the dining area, so if your room is far from there as I was then you cannot be on the beach near your room without having to walk afair distance to get a drink. Some form of shade should be provided around the pool area. The TV's in the rooms are old and small. There is limited wifi in the lobby and around the bar, but it is not a strong signal and frequently drops off. No shampoo, conditioner, lotion or hair dryers are provided and you cannot purchase them at the hotel.
