"A wonderful place to stay"
We had a lovely spacious apartment ('La Scalla') in the farmhouse, with great views over the countryside. It was very comfortably furnished with traditional furniture, and all was spotlessly clean. There was a private place to sit outside immediately by our door, and we enjoyed eating and reading there. There is a pool, again very clean, and the farmhouse is surrounded by olive trees and vines. The family make their own wine and olive oil, both of which are delicious. From the apartment it is just a short (uphill) walk into Montepulciano, a delightful hill-top town, yet the apartment feels to be in the country, away from all the bustle and tourists. The hosts are very kind and helpful, and Marina cheerfully coped with our feeble attempts at Italian. Antonella speaks good English and is home from work in the evenings and at weekends. We would heartily recommend Podere Fontecastello.

Bed & Breakfast Vicolo dell’Oste

Via Dell'Oste 1, Montepulciano - Map
"Perfect place to stay in Montepulciano"
We booked the Vicolo delle'Oste for 2 nights (4 of us) and from start to finish we were delighted. Located in the middle of town and easy to find, it provides an ideal location from which to explore this beautiful Tuscan hill town. Having already been helpful with email queries in advance of our stay, on arrival, Giuseppe gave us the warmest of welcomes, regularly apologising for his bad English (which was actually fine) and both he and his partner Luisa were nothing but helpful and hospitable throughout. What a difference it makes to have hosts anticipate and offer help without even having to ask eg recommending and booking restaurants, checking and writing down bus times etc. The apartment itself was lovely, with 2 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, a lounge/kitchen and a big bathroom, and a great combination of old charm with modern amenities, and the little touches such as providing bottled water and chocolates made it feel more homely. Breakfast is extra, served across the street in the historic Caffe Poliziano, which is available all morning, at your leisure. It offers utterly stunning views and a stylish decor, with a more than adequate continental breakfast for a mere 5 Euros. All in all, a fantastic little place, at a very reasonable price, where you will feel thoroughly well looked after by Giuseppe and Luisa.

"Wonderful time at this lovely b&b"
We had a fantastic time, the lady who ran the b&b couldn't do enough for us and made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and spacious, the breakfast delicious and the surroundings beautiful. I couldn't recommend the b&b more and montepulciano is an amazing town and well worth a visit - wine tasting should not be missed!

"Friendly family; quaint accommodations"
Friendly family run old farm house with nice apartments and rooms. We stayed in one of the small apartments (kitchenette, balcony) and there were many unique items and old antique furniture in the rooms. The rooms were clean and large. The swimming pool is beautiful. The best part though, is the lovely family that operates the old farm. The older gentleman (owner) grew up there and the family clearly cares about their property and the guests' stay. Breakfasts were fun with jams and cakes made by the farm. Beautiful, relaxing, and kid friendly. Also seemed to be a nice getaway for couples. Definitely recommend this lovely place. Also, homemade wine as a welcome gift!

"Beautiful accommodation on vineyard"
Only spent one night here, whilst travelling in Tuscany. Accommodation is on a beautiful vineyard, everything is maintained to a very high standard. Rooms are decorated in traditional style and are spotlessly clean The staff are extremely efficient and the service is excellent. We will be back as soon as we can. Special thanks to Giullia for all her help.

"Wonderful stay"
My sister and I stayed here for 5 days while traveling in Tuscany, and thoroughly enjoyed Albergo Il Rondo. It's a small property (7 rooms) situated in a beautiful garden just outside of the center Montepulciano. The family that runs the hotel is kind and hospitable, and we had a wonderful time. The room was comfortable, with great beds and linens and a well appointed bathroom. Breakfast each morning was excellent. It was an easy walk into the center of town, or to cut the walk, we did drive up and park a couple of times in the parking area close to the town gate- very easy to do. We found Montepulciano a very convenient base for exploring much of Tuscany, and I would definitely return to this hotel when we come the next time.

"Couldn't recommend it highly enough"
The perfect spot for a wonderfully peaceful time away from it all. The views were great, the pool was lovely - and fairly big - and the rooms were very well decorated, spotlessly clean and spacious. All round, it couldn't have been better. Oh, and Montepulciano was, of course, nice too, and only a few minutes drive up the road.

Pocket Guide: Montepulciano, Siena Romantic Hotels

Spread along a narrow ridge, Montepulciano is one of Tuscany’s highest hill-towns. On main transport routes from Siena and Florence, it makes a fine touring base. Foremost among a medley of photogenic palaces and churches within its ancient walls is the exquisitely proportioned Madonna di San Biagio. The region’s Vino Nobile wine draws many visitors, as does its July jazz festival and a barrel race through the streets in late August.
