Toilet overflowed. Could not exchange room. Gym was in a shed. Horrible!

You get what you pay for

The hotel was decent at best. It was old and run down. There was someone else's hair in the tub. The pool was broken, which was unadvertised. The pictures made it look much nicer than it actually was. The breakfast was decent. Fresh fruit would have made it better. On the up side, the staff was very nice and friendly. Overall, I wish I would have picked one of the other options I was considering.

budget motel

Pros: location and price (relative)
Cons: a more secure looking door lock and window locks that worked. a screen door that did not have a bent frame. a better breakfast.
Location: everything in monterey and carmel is a short drive away.
clean and basic. no air conditioning - open windows and a fan.

Old but not bad.

the building is on the worn side, but effort is being made to keep it up. The beds are new and good, and has nice landscaping.

The hotel is OK

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: The price
Cons: New beds, lager breakfast area and a larger selection of food
The bed was awful. It was hard to sleep in and the next morning both our backs ached. The breakfast area was too small and I was unable to get a waffle as another person was making so many waffles. Very little variety of food. We had to go for breakfast later because there was not much to eat at the hotel.

worth the money

Location: Please move your hotel next door to the pier. We were attending the annual Dixieland jazz festival at the Portola and it was wonderful.
Very clean room, tons of pillows, friendly staff. Nice balcony with 2 chairs and a little table nice place to have morning coffee. A few little frustrations; the coffee maker was set way high on top of the microwave stand, too high to pour the water into. I tried to move it onto the counter that the TV was on but the TV is bolted onto the center of the counter, leaving not enough room to put the coffeemaker on it. If the TV had been bolted to the rear portion, there would have been plenty of room for the coffeemaker, cups, plates etc., but all that space was wasted behind the TV. Also, I wish some of the the outside lights could be turned off at bedtime. they were very bright. We had to use the blackout curtain to get to sleep, but i like to wake up with the sunrise. With a blackout curtain you have no awareness of if it's day or night. I wish they had toaster in the lobby/ breakfast room. I like to have toast and coffee in the morning. The lady was very accommodating when I arrived after 11:00. She made me waffles. Just one thing: please move your hotel closer to the Portola convention center. (if it's not too much trouble).

Nice older facility in decent condition

Posted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: The grounds are nicely landscaped and manicured, the buildings are well kept, the family that runs it are very nice, the pool looked very inviting.
Cons: Some sound deadening in the walls between rooms is much needed.
Location: An excellent location to downtown and the waterfront and very close to Del Monte Shopping Center
This is a nice well kept older motel ran by a charming couple that cares very much about pleasing their customers. The rooms are pleasant and very clean with parking at your room door which is nice. It is on a busy street however there is very little traffic at night so that was not an issue. What was an issue was the fact that the walls are VERY thin and the people in the next room had unwilling witnesses to their conversations til late into the night. The breakfast included in the room price consisted of muffins and toast and make it yourself hot waffles, hard boiled eggs ,an assortment of cereals, orange juice, coffee and tea.

The bed coverings were dirty and had stains. The bathroom had hair on the walls, floor and in the tub. Not good. Will not return.

Reserved room at last minute to go to Golf tournament. Staff/Owners were very nice and helpful getting heater lit etc. Value was about what I expected for the price.
