Nice hotel, close to beach and boardwalk.

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: Otherwise, this is a perfect location for the beach, boardwalk, downtown, shops, etc.
Cons: Not much. Really is good for what your doing in Santa Cruz.
Location: Beach, Wharf, Boardwalk, Restaraunts, Exploritorium across the street.
The directions were easy to follow. Although picture on website a lttle different than actual site, we were happy with the whole property. Parking on site a little tight but doable. Check-in was easy and pleasant. Room window had a view of wharf. Staff accomodatd our daughter of 7 by getting us a roll away bed. You need to request the extras (e.g., iron, microwave, blankets) and they had no problem providing. Continental breakfast is not Best Western, but it has coffee, tea, chocolate, OJ, cereal, bananas, apples, and rolls. Theree was an incident wth one of the occupants was loud, obnoxoius, pounding on doors at 2am, police called. It was a little scary because it was a couple of doors away and there had been two smaller incidents during the day that made it a nervous situation. I think the hotel should have asked them to leave immediately. The occupants were still there that morning.

Close to beach

Pros: Location
Cons: Breakfast
Location: Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Pier
It was convenient to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. It was clean. There was parking, which was a definite advantage. The continental breakfast was very disappointing-it was very limited and there was only one table.

Worst experience in along time

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: The facility needs a major overhaul. Some of the outside light fixtures on the walkway in front of the rooms were bare light bulbs.
Location: The Santa Cruz Warf is minutes away walking and the Boardwalk amusement park is about a 10 minute walk. Downtown is about a 15 minute walk.
The only redeeming feature was the proximity to Warf, Beach and also being close to downtown Santa Cruz. The mattress was literally falling apart. When I lifted the sheet the entire inside of the mattress was exposed. I could see the springs and spacers. The towel bar in the bath was coming out of the wall on one side. The bathroom door would not open all the way without hitting the sink/counter. The sink area had old cigarette burns in the counter top. The bedside lamp on one side of the bed was loose and crooked where it was mounted to the wall. AND, there was no clock in the room, and when I asked I was told hey don't have clocks in any of the rooms. Also the TV was a standard tube probably about 15 years old. The WIFI did work, although it was somewhat intermittent. When issues were brought to the staff the response was that they were not the owners, but would pass things on. Since I had prepaid the room (Non refundable), and there was nothing else available even close to the price in the area we stuck it out.

Mediocre, Yet Appealing

Posted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: Location, price
Cons: The attitudes and responsiveness of the staff. They were nice but not helpful.
Location: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Santa Cruz Wharf, beach, Pacific Ave. and shops
The best attribute about the Beachview Inn is its location. It is a two minute walk to the Santa Cruz Wharf. It is a four minute walk to the Boardwalk. It is a short walk to Pacific Ave. and the shops. The rooms are adequate - that is it provides a fairly comfortable bed, a sink, a toilet, a shower, a desk and chair, and a t.v. The walls are very thin so sound travels easily. We felt like this hotel was a good choice because of the low price and the location. If you are unfortunate enough to get loud neighbors though, like we did during our second night, don't count on a good night sleep. The people in the room next to us were loud until 4:00 A.M. Despite three nice requests of them to quiet down, they did not. The worst part was that we tried to phone the on-site managers twice during the night and rang their door bell several times, with no response. The next morning, when we contacted the managers, they took no responsibility for not answering the phone or door bell. The told us it was too bad the our neighbors were so loud. That was it. No apology for their lack of response and no mention of them being responsive in the future. Also, the cleaning crew cleans on their schedule, not yours. At 4:15 P.M., when we returned to our room after a full day of activity, our room was still not cleaned. We told the cleaning crew we needed to take showers. Their response was, if we can not clean your room right now, we will not clean it today.

Wonderful location

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Hotel is located within walking distance of most activities and restaurants and has parking available. The rooms are fine, but we wished they had simple amenities like an ironing board or mini fridge. Don't bother with the continental whatever that is, explore delicious places nearby. The staff was friendly and the room was adequate.

Clean. Staff was very polite. Breakfast was a little disappointing. "Ocen view" was a bit of an overstatement.

A little sketchy but good location

Posted Jun 12, 2014
Definitely not a beach view, but close enough. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are mediocre at best but for the price you really can't expect anything extravagant. The walls are paper thin, when me and my husband stayed the people next door were very disruptive and quite frankly scary. I was glad the room had three locks on the door.

hard to find

Cons: Nearly everything!
Room disappointing, 2 flights of stairs to haul luggage. Street changes 3 times, so very hard to find. Location was good. Very noisy people in carpark drinking into early morning.
