Suite Was Convenient

Posted May 26, 2015
Pros: Location.
Cons: See notes about filling the empty TV cabinet space with something like a set of drawers, or even a fake door.
We stayed one night and appreciated having the second room with sofa and coffee table. They had placed a wide flat screen TV on top of what used to be a deep TV cabinet, now empty. The hole in the back of the cabinet, where TV cords used to be, was what one sees while sitting on the sofa, however. (They could just put in an IKEA type set of drawers there to fill the space and cover the hole.) Staff were friendly and accomodating of our special needs. The bed was very comfortable.

Convenient location, nice rooms, quiet stay. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the beach and it is surrounded by nice restaurants. If I went back to Santa Cruz I would stay there again.

Okay for a nite

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Room was nice but there were no windows in our suite. When we returned late at nite, there was no parking space! Had to squeeze into a non parking place and ask security if I could park there. They let me but I didn't feel that my car was that secure

Parking is horrid.

Posted Mar 27, 2015
We stayed upstairs. They are in the process of renovating. They haven't even begin our room. Old, lumpy bed. Dilapidated couch I thought twice about sitting on. The window looked onto a wall a foot away. Rm 210, don't stay there! Parking under the hotel is very tiny spaces. We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and we're lucky to find a place to squeeze into. Other guests with suburban and tricks had to take two spaces, but not their fault. The spaces are meant for smart cars, it seems. With very few guests in the hotel due to all the renovations, I don't know what they will do when it is full of guests. The best party of the stay was a meal at HQ BBQ a short walk from the hotel. Overall, the rooms they renovate may look good. They are putting plantain shutters in most of the room. That corner room will never be good. Plus, just because of parking issues I'd never stay there again.

Nice place, good bargain.

Posted Mar 26, 2015
Pros: Really nice rooms and comfortable common area.
Cons: Front desk staff could ask people being loud in the common area after 10 pm to be quieter- the rooms right off this area are subject to this sound.
Nice place - really better than I was expecting from the outside. The rooms appear to have been renovated pretty recently. The breakfast is decent. Parking is good but very hard as far as check in / check out. Good central location. I would definitely stay there again.

BIG ROOM.

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: Big room... a lot of space. Great breakfast; lots to choose from.
Cons: .....
Location: Beach is a bit of a walk but we managed.
Asked staff where they would go to dinner......we took a short walk (1 mile) to a local diner that was inexpensive and the food was great.

great stay

Pros: staff, and all the small details like the xbox in the common area.
Cons: finish the remodel or at least shut the doors on those rooms.
Location: the board walk and beach, but there is so much around that you can't list them all, but it in the middle of the attractions. and shopping.
we were here for our recent honeymoon. Loved that they were close to the ocean but had a safe feel, which is very important. The room was clean and modern. yes it was recently remodeled but the whole feel of the operation was that they were trying to go above and beyond without breaking the bank. Walk able to the beach and board walk and some close shopping. The local gas station is close by but that is to a normal thing when your that close to the beach. But still a 10 to 15 min drive to most major things in town. But we did love all the small touches like the video game console in the common area and the working computers up stairs. Alot of small touches throughout. When come back, i am going to try my best to get a room here.
