Relaxing beach birthday get away

This place is perfect for beach lovers. Beautiful views and convent beach access. Elegant lounge with fireplace and gorgeous ocean view. Live music, cocktail hour, restaurant, room service. No reason to even leave the resort. Loved my stay and will be going back. Worth every penny.

disappointing

Pros: the resturaunt was nice
Cons: decor and how they describe the environment
said we had a garden view but it actually looked over the freeway. rooms were small. the decor was awful. on checkout paid for parking with a different card. then they charged me for parking again and more taxes when we had already for taxes. i emailed them and they told that the money would come off my account in 7 to 10 days. still waiting.

Great beach location

Pros: Location, cleanliness
This hotel was our choice for a family weekend break near the beach, and was ideally suited. Right on the beach, ample parking, and a short drive to downtown Monterey for some great restaurants. Being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves was very relaxing, and watching the dolphin and sealions play in the surf was great fun for the kids.

Beach View is the only plus!

Went to Celebrate out 35th Wedding Anniversary Aug. 2014. This Hotel is very OLD in Interior AND Exterior! Bed was bad... Drainage in the shower & sink was VERY BAD! FOR THE PRICE OF THIS HOTEL it was N O T worth it! Loud between rooms... Overall, NEEDS A TOTAL MAKEOVER!!!

Great Location!

Pros: Beach front location!
Cons: Need more staff for check-in and check-out peak times. Keep the bar open a little later in the evenings.
Location: Fishermens' wharf in Monterey. Whale watching boat tours. Good restaurants. Interesting little shops. Bike riding trails. Rental bikes available.
We stayed here 2 nights while visiting Monterey. This is a great location. It is right on a clean, beautiful beach. You'll love it. Great view from the hotel lobby/bar. Wish the bar was open a little later in the evening. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The check-in and check-out processes took quite a while. There were long waits to do this. The hotel needs more staff on duty during peak check-in and check-out times. This hotel charges for parking which is enforced by an entry/exit gate. The parking fee allowed for unlimited exits and entries each day. I guess the fee is necessary to keep other visitors to the beach from taking up all the spaces in the hotel's lot.

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong

We got to the Best Western Plus Beach Resort Monterey late and when we arrived we were told that the room had been flooded and we would have to be put up in a different hotel for the night, but they would refunded us for the night and pay for our room for 1 night at another hotel. Unfortunately the other hotel was not very nice. The next morning we came back to Best Western Plus Beach Resort Monterey to drop off our luggage so we could go to the aquarium. A bell hop was helping us with our luggage. I asked him to be very carful with a wooden trunk that was hand made as a gift for a wedding we were attending. He places it gently on a cart but then started shoving other luggage next to it. The hard luggage dented and scratched the trunk. They told us they would give us a credit for dinner at their restaurant. When we got to our room it had a queen bed and not the king like we had reserved and paid for. they didn't have any other rooms so we were out of luck. When we went to dinner that night at their restaurant the services was very nice, but we waited over an hour for our food. When i asked about the food they seemed to have forgotten about us and when the waitress came back from checking on it she told us that what we had ordered was now out of stock and we would have to reorder. The food that did finally come out was very good though so that was a plus. When we checked out we had not been refunded for the first night and there was no dinner credit.

Stay at Monterey Beach Resort Hotel

After checking, we were assigned first floor rooms. My "Ocean Front" with didn't have a view of the ocean at all. They had a "view" of a cement wall. I requested that we be transferred to the second floor, which they did the second day of a three day stay. My sister-in-law had no towels or wash rags in her room. My remote didn't work without multiple clicks and forced change. Overall, the customer service was good. However, at these prices, if they didn't have second story rooms available, I would have checked out and stayed at another Hotel. The pictures are deceiving. The rooms are about one step up from a Hotel 6. Needles to say, I won't stay there again. For the same price or even less, I can stay at a Hotel which has much more to offer.

Beautiful beach view. Very clean and relaxing. Woke up to dolphins swimming a few feet away from the shore.

Great location/view....

Room was nicely decorated and accessorize s. Bathroom was quite small an inconvenient. The view was fantastic. Staff at the front desk were first rate,very courteous and professional. Biggest gripe was the bathroom and sink area. There was hair on the counter, in the sink basin as well as the bathtub shower. The maid certainly did not do her job in that area. The shower drain would not drain and after a minute of running, you had ankle deep water to stand in. Paying well over $300 for a night's stay , I surely expected more from these basic amenities
