“Needs updating”

Location was fantastic; we could walk everywhere in downtown Carmel from the inn. However, the inn itself needs updating and some repair. The wallpaper was pealing off the bathroom walls. The electrical sockets were the old 2-prong type, hence we had to have an adapter to plug in our laptop. It just needs to be refurbished.

Area recommendations

Any street close to Ocean Avenue for downtown shopping. Going to the beach would pretty much be the same. The town is small; everything isclose in proximity.

“Pretty in Pink”

Well, What to say... First the location of this hotel is great. The rooms are clean and the staff were very helpful. The only real negative is we ended up in the (Pink and I mean Very Pink) room. The hotel itself shows a bit of age (peeling wall paper and old furniture). But all in all for the price, I would stay there again (but request a Non-Pink room). It had free wireless, a DVD player and a basic continental breakfast. We had an oppertunity to see a couple of the other rooms and they seemed nice. Other than needing some TLC, this hotel was a good value. Thi sis by no means a 5 star facility, but everything is well within walking distance. The beach is a short 15 minute walk, down town Carmel By The Sea is just steps away.

Area recommendations

Make a piont to go to the Chees Shop on the corner of Ocean and Junipero Streets. Great cheese and wine selection and very helpful staff.

“Qualified recommendation, but there are better options nearby”

I've previously stayed at other nearby hotels, and Carmel Inn and Suites wasn't bad, but not great. The hotel room itself was clean, but quite poorly maintained. The pedestal sink was on the verge of falling over, the faucet was coming apart, the toilet paper holder was hanging on by a thread, etc. Room size wasn't bad, and had an LCD TV, which was a nice surprise. Overall, the room was no real problem for us. The location itself is a little less appealing. Junipero is a four lane street, and a bit larger and busier than others close by. A number of hotels on San Carlos, for example. Given the choice next time, we'll return to other options a couple of blocks over....they just offer a bit better ambiance in the neighborhood for a similar price.

Area recommendations

Same basic downtown area of Carmel, just a couple of blocks closer to the ocean - like around San Carlos. It's only two blocks away, but smaller, less busy streets, and better overall feeling to the neighborhood.

“Nice place.”

Heater is very calm. Bed is very comfortable to me and my wife. Room is clean and we enjoyed HD movie and also very bright.

“Thin walls and tiny bedroom.”

at 9:30 AM there is no breakfast at all. this hotel seems to be made for seniors. Nothing to complain about that but certainly i did took the wrong idea. Definitly not a hide away spot.

“Faulty Towers Carmel - Carmel Inn and Suites”

Our stay was a complete disaster, electricity problems, heating problems, toilet problems. The maintenance is obviously oclose to non-existent and the poor hotel manager has to use tons of white lies, we were expecting John Cleese and Manuel to show up... Lousy breakfast too. STAY AWAY, Carmel is too nice for a stay to be destroyed here!
