Pros: Downtown location
Cons: The room they rented us should not be rented as a stand alone hotel room, was probably a hallway or storage room that they converted.
Our room was basically a hallway that was converted to a room.

Worst place we ever stayed in.Posted Oct 12, 2014
Location: No point in talking about the location as I would not want anyone to stay there.
When we looked at the stained pillow cases we knew we had made a mistake. The hotel was rated AAA so we thought it was a safe bet and Expedia had asked us to pay in advance for our five night stay, which meant we were stuck there. The breakfast was terrible and we only went once, the dismal room was enough to put any one off! One of the reasons we choose this hotel was the swimming pool which looked quite nice in the photos, but in reality no one ever swam there it was a disgrace dirty with filthy tables and chairs. The sink blocked the first night the toilet wouldn't flush ,the telephone never worked and the television was intermittent. The whole place was a disaster and other guests felt the same. We didn't know what to do, so we stayed but felt so disappointed with Expedia,so won't book with them again.

We tried to switch rooms, but none was available.Posted Oct 11, 2014
Pros: The soap was nice, both of us could really tell the difference on how soft our skin was after a shower. We took the wrapper, will try to find a source.
Location: Carmel is great, and Carmel Valley Village is an excellent side trip
We tried to leave and get a refund, but since it was thru Expedia, that didn't happen. The bath room was recently remodeled and very nice. The problem was that the room was long and narrow. The bed was jammed up against the wall on one side and a 2 1/2 foot walk way on the other side, left no room for end tables on either side. Plus the person on the wall side had to climb off the end of the bed or over the other person to use the bathroom. On top of that, it was a hot day for Carmel, and there was no air flow. It wasn't comfortable until 2:00 in the morning. We will probably not book thru Expedia again, the room was way over priced for such a cramped space!

Good place in quaint town!Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: It is like being at home
Cons: Replace the bulbs in light fixtures. The window in the bathroom needs to be repaired. Like I said - it was like being at home!
Location: Great town! Visiting the art galleries is like taking time at the art museum. Suggestion- enjoy the beach in town with a cup of morning coffee!
They provided a good breakfast for the traveler. And I was recommended to eat at a very good restraraunt in town. Thanks for the advice!

carmelPosted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: locality, cleanliness.
Location: great location. restaurants, shopping, gallery's, are all within walking distance.
this hotel is located conveniently close to the downtown area. no more than a few minute walk to the heart of town. well kept facility. staff was attentive, and pleasant. the price was actually lower than comparable hotels in carmel. as a forty years visitor to carmel this hotel rates right up there. for the budget traveler this is your place.

Nice but not greatPosted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: The bathrooms
Cons: Fix the fridges and light switches
Location: Central location close to beaches Big Sur and Monterey
We made the reservation months in advance and the first room we got was small and the fridge froze everything. Our view from our window was a blank wall. The next day we asked for a better room and paid for a upgrade to a suite. It was much better we did have a view of the ocean but the fridge in this room froze everything also. The decor is a little fru=fru and just a little seedy. The light switches are movement controlled so if you are in the shower the bathroom will go dark while your in there. The bathrooms are the best feature nice clean and modern. All in all I have stayed in worse and since we didn't spend that much time in our room it worked for us.

We won't be coming backPosted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: The one plus of this hotel is great location, right by all the Carmel shopping and dining. But that's all.
Cons: Service, decor, commitment to customers.
Location: All the great shopping and dining amenities of Carmel.
Our room was 'decorated' with an odd assortment of vaguely Victorian furniture pieces that were uncomfortable and oddly arranged. The art was hung terribly (usually too high) and the one actually nice piece of art in the room was totally out of place. The bed was nice; the bathroom was just okay but the drain stop didn't function so a bath was out of the question. The proprietor did not lift a finger to address the problem. This is a last-gasp option in Carmel for now on, as far as we are concerned.

Not worth the moneyPosted Jul 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
Basically just a cheap motel that is incredibly over priced because it's in Carmel. NOT worth the money!

Reasonable for CarmelPosted Jul 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
Re-done interiors make this a comfortable stay. Just a 10 minute walk to the beach. Three great restaurants across the street. Bruno's grocery/ deli is one block away. Both rooms were clean and show no signs of wear. Some noise from above, so ask for a second floor room in case "Big Foot" checks in. Small breakfast room with all the basics. Manager gave us early check-in as one child was not well.
