Pros: The staff, location and the hotel being very clean and well maintained, great parking.
Cons: The only things that you could improve is more lighting on and around the hotel so that the hotel will be much more easier to find at night. J
Location: Great Locations near restruants, shopping, Art galleries.
I had a great experience and I love Carmel, this was my sister first time coming to Carmel and she fell in love with it. She love the weather and senerie the restruants and people. Her stay at the hotel was excellent. The staff was great and very accommodating, and recommended places for us to visit. I love Carmel and I like the hotel and I plan on staying aThe staft the hotel on my next trip.

overall, very nice hotel. after all, it is in Carmel so it can't be awful, right?! continental breakfast wasn't the best but the balcony was nice.

Disappointed at the size of the room, although it had the usual room furniture it lacked coffee/tea making facilities. Bathroom was very clean but slightly worn. The management was very friendly on arrival but when we reported a bedside light and fan (because there was no A/C) were not working, nothing was done. What passed for breakfast was also not noted, we asked for no juice but got it for the days we stayed there. We only paid for a basic room and got it, although we did see another room that looked very luxurious but at what cost?

Good location mediocre hotel

Pros: Location, friendly staff, clean room, continental breakfast delivered to your room.
Cons: install new windows and sliding glass doors, that people can open and close, remodel bathrooms
Location: downtown, beach
WE stayed there for one night. It is a great location, two blocks from Ocean AVE, less crowded, you can explore Carmel on foot, also 8 blocks from the beach. The property is old and not well maintained. It needs fresh paint, bathroom was outdated, the tiles were missing grout, the shower head and handle did not match, almost everything in the bathroom was rusty and loosing paint. Outside they have unused, old pool, that was scary looking.

Quaint hotel, ideal location

Cons: Updated facilities would be ideal, but since that isn't likely, at least a cleaner bathroom.
Location: All restaurants, shopping and even the beach (about 8 blocks) are within walking distance. Great spot.
This hotel was typical of Carmel. It's older and appears to have not been renovated in quite some time. There were no frills, but it was still a good stay for the price. The bathroom was definitely old and not very clean-feeling. The location is great, just a block off of the main drag, which made it a bit quieter, but very convenient. The "breakfast" consisted of a croissant, strawberry (yes, singular), OJ and tea or coffee per person. So not really a breakfast, but more of a snack. That is fine, it's just misleading that it is advertised as a breakfast.

Old fashion bathroom no security

Cons: In room safe, security on bathroom window.
Location: Pretty little town beautiful views of the bay. Great restaurant - across the road.
Bed was good and the room a good size and the heating was great. No safe or bar fridge and only fly screen on the bathroom window - no security for ventilation which beggars belief in 21st century. Breakfast was woful but parking was free.

Small lodge close to everything.

Pros: Close to the beach and all the shops and places to eat. Pet friendly.
Cons: Wait time for rooms to be ready.
Location: Close to the beach. Walking distance to Ocean Ave. Quiet neighborhood off the main street (Ocean Ave).
We had a little trouble checking in at 3 PM. The room was not ready until 3:45 PM. We had our pet fee waived because we waited for our room.

An OK place

Pros: I was only there one night.
Cons: so much....upgrade the rooms but most of all, change staff to people who understand consumers have choices.
The Carmel Lodge has location and convenience going for it. It's easy to get to, is in the center of all in downtown Carmel, and the parking lot is a godsend in a crowded town. The room is adequate and all works well. the lack of A/C is likely not to be a problem as the town is usually cool and breezy. However, the staff seems to lack even the basics in understanding customer service. With several places to choose from the "all in" price of room, parking, wifi and breakfast convinced me to choose this hotel. When I arrived to check in i was told breakfast was merely a croissant some juice and coffee and I had to accept the time for delivery to my room that was available. I mentioned that i had an early morning meeting and it would be helpful if i could have delivery 15-30 minutes earlier. No, that's impossible I was told. No apology but rather that's just the way it is. the next morning, breakfast never arrived, even at the promised later time! I mentioned this at checkout, and again no apology. When I asked for a refund they said Expedia would have to do this. Pretty poor and unacceptable customer service!!
