“The worst we have stayed at...... Not a 3 star......”
Room smelt, wireless hopeless, TV did not work, manager could not careless, breakfast too late.between 8 and 9. Disappointing for such a pretty area
“Really a nice place to stay..”
Very nice. Close to town, no city nise, very private and peaceful. Stayed an extra night which made my stay even nicer.
“old-fashioned classic”
very friendly staff and helpful with directions; room very quaint but charming
“Questionable Value”
This property was old & tired. Perhaps a bit more "rundown" than "artsy". It was farther away from the town center than we thought. The room was spacious & I can see how it might have been an artist's retreat a LONG time ago but the only heating source was a gas fireplace, so it took a while to get the chill out of the air. The "brown bag" breakfast offering of "hard boiled egg, yogurt & toast" was to be delivered to our room between 8 & 9 AM the following day. Which meant that we couldn't partake because of our 7:30 AM departure. There was no central place to go have coffee or pick up their breakfast offering earlier than the room delivery time. Office was closed from early evening until after 8AM the following day. Will stay elsewhere on our next visit to Carmel. Very poor value for the $$.
“Love the Carmel area.”
The staff were friendly. The electricity went off and it happened through the circuit board. The lady commented I had to many lights on, but I had one light on nd the small stove heating element. She said that the hotel is 99 years old and these things happen. The bathroom sink was in the living area not the bathroom, so that was strange.
“I love Carmel”
Carmel is such a beautiful place. The hotel I stayed in was very sufficient for my needs.
“Not awful, but wouldn't stay here again.”
If the goal of your visit is to have an affordable place to sleep, then this hotel is solid. The nearby road (literally 5 feet from my wall) led to loud traffic whizzing by throughout the night. The breakfast delivered to the door was nothing to write home about...a saran-wrapped blueberry scone, warm mango juice and about 2 cartons of yogurt. I did not hate this place, but I wouldn't stay here again. But, again, for the price, it wasn't a bad place to sleep for the night.
“Plain average”
- ok to stay for a night - not the best value for money but it was the most economic i could find in carmel - breakfast was a goody bag with stuff on the cheap side - a bit of walking is required to get to the center of carmel by the sea (it was ok for me but other might not like this)
“Not my favorite”
My husband and I went to Carmel to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Things being tight these days, I was shopping around for value, which is tough in Carmel. This hotel popped up with decent reviews so I gave it a try... I read a review that said it had been remodeled. Be careful--that's only a few rooms. The room we were in was very outdated, the TV wasn't plugged in because the cord didn't reach the outlet, took forever to get hot water in the bathroom sink, etc. It was clean enough, but I definitely wouldn't stay there again!
“Classy camping”
The hotel consists of a number of duplex cabins. Ours had a nice deck and fireplace. Although older, it was nicely furnished and maintained. The grounds are nicely landscaped with large trees all around. Very much like camping! Breakfast deliverd to your room each day was a nice tough. A little further from the "downtown" area of Carmel and the beach than other places so a car will be neede to get to those places.
