If you want to save money in Carmel, CAPosted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: The location
Cons: That place should be updated
Location: Close by there is a Mall. And at the end of the Mall (on the left side) there is an excellent place for having breakfast!!! Opens at 8 a.m.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money for the high-priced hotels in Carmel this one could be an alternative. But don't expect too much. The location is a little away from the centre of Carmel so you better drive into the town. Parking is not a problem. The interior of the room is kind of dated. My bed sheets had some stains on the outside(not very appealing) even though the were washed. The quality of the bed was good

Carmel breakPosted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Old-fashioned feel. Good location, in one sense, because of proximity to Carmel, Monterey, shops, Big Sur, Salinas etc.
Cons: The shower needed some TLC. And if you want guests to re-use towels, which is good, give them space to hang/air them. No laundry facilities onsite.
Location: Location is good & bad, due to proximity of Highway 1. We avoided Carmel by the Sea. Too cutesy. We liked downtown Monterey, esp both Art Museums.
I had stayed here before, several years ago, and when we were looking for a base in this area, it seemed a good idea to return. We would have liked to have stayed in one of the cabins, as before, but this was not possible. The room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel, convenient locationPosted Jun 8, 2014
The hotel staff was very nice, helpful. The hotel itself was not a beauty but the rooms were clean & comfortable. The grounds of the hotel were really nice. It was off the highway and very convenient to downtown Carmel. There was a nice little shopping area across the road with a grocery store and eating places. It was a good overall place to stay.

Deceitful pictures in ExpediaPosted Jun 7, 2014
Pros: King size bed was comfortable.
Cons: It is very disappointing to expect something much better than you finally get. Update the pictures Expedia!
Location: Somehow far away from everything (nothing in walking distance)
The condition of the facilities is really poor. The picture in Expedia by no means reflect the current status of the hotel. There was a strong and disgusting odor in our room. I cannot imagine the room we booked, because we were upgraded and it was awful.

Clean, Functional, Decent ValuePosted Jun 5, 2014
Cons: The internet connection never worked
A rather plain motel off a back street but clean and the staff was friendly and it had a pool that we enjoyed for a brief dip each evening.

Cottage that met all of our needsPosted May 29, 2014
Pros: location: right next to everything you need.
Cons: The heating system in the room--too loud.
Location: We just went to the nearby shopping center for dinner which was so convenient.
We checked in late and got an upgrade from the nice staff. Everything was superb. Two things that I would mention is that the GPS takes you down a dead-end road where you are adjacent to the parking lot of the INN. Then they have a box there for people who got lost, and you take their directions and back-track. So don't rely on GPS. Also their internet was spotty the day we were there, and it impacted our business dealings in the morning. But the staff made up for it.

No wi-fi!Posted May 23, 2014
Pros: It was clean and modern.
Cons: Get wi-fi working!
Location: There is nothing nearby except a Safeway. You have to drive to everything.
Our stay at this hotel was adequate but the wi-fi wasn't working and we also couldn't get on the 4G network so were completely offline. When we told the staff about the wi-fi they just said "oh I just turned the modem of and on" and "I put a ticket in for that yesterday" which wasn't very helpful. It made finding restaurants, getting directions and all basic tasks impossible.

The hotel is relatively small with individual cottages, if you can get one. It is located on 10 acres and has a garden with hammocks and a bench. The room was large with a good size bath (shower and separate tub). Getting there was a bit difficult as GPS misleads you. Coming from Carmel south on hi-way 1, don't take Rio Rd but go one further (Oliver Rd). Downtown Carmel is only a few minutes by car.

DisappointingPosted May 13, 2014
We decided to drive up the central coast for mothers day. Our first night was in another wonderful hotel located in Monterey. For our second night we drove to Carmel. All the hotels there were very expensive but this one appealed to us at 140 a night which was still exorbitant. About the hotel, as we drove we expected a view of the beautiful hills just in front of us. Instead it's just off the highway and the only view you can see is of driveways and the road. On the other side your view will be of trees. Next, the doors are strange and looked like the place was built out of a barn. What I mean is that they are stable doors like the ones for horses. What annoyed me is the fact that the doors are joined between rooms. I never feel safe in these types of hotels. The door connected on both sides. One side was connected to the office and another side was a random stranger's room. They need to put this in the listing! Next the internet connection was awful. We were right next to the office but the connection wouldn't connect at all! We were the closest to the router of all the rooms so that makes zero sense to me. I had to drive all the way to Starbucks in Monterey for internet. The room was also minimal. There was a tube tv. Who still uses tube tv's?! The pillows were small. The bathroom wall had a crack by the toilet. For the amount I paid this hotel wasn't worth it at all. I guess there's a reason for no refunds. The hotel's horrible.
