Great place. Was disappointed however that our cottage didn't have a fireplace like in the photos of that category we chose. Bed was very comfortable and the cottage is very cozy.

Beautiful, quiet property; lovely, modern cabin; space for the children to run and play outside. Conveniently located just off California Rt. 1 and in close proximity to both the wonderful natural features of the coast, the excellent downtown beach, and the many nice site-seeing, dining and shopping options in Carmel.

Everything about this property is so old. Even the smell. Even the keys are literally a key in a large key ring like a bangle. The doors are the ones you can open halfway, so weird. I was disappointed because the reviews were nice. The bathroom/shower is tiny and super old. The drain is almost too scary to look at. The shower handle and hardware are loose and falling apart, not to mention the shower door. The laminate floors are splitting. The walls are thin. There are not enough outlets to plug chargers for gadgets. No microwave. The bathroom mirror is broken in the corner. It is quiet because it is somewhat hidden and almost easy to miss the turn to the entrance. It literally is next to the river/water stream. That one is somewhat nice. The 2 male receptionists I've met, one on the day of check in and one on the day of check out were at least nice and friendly.

I stayed in the Studio Cottage with Wet Bar Two Beds. It was a wonderful stay, we enjoyed the beautiful river that runs in the back of the inn. There is a swing which we enjoyed after our nice walk through the grounds. Our cottage had a small table and 2 chairs outside, which was wonderful to enjoy our coffee. Thank you for the making out stay wondeful.

Great Stay!
This place was even better than I was anticipating. We loved our cottage with a wet bar. Super clean and modern inside. The clawfoot bathtub was lovely and I actually didn't know it was going to have a fireplace unit in it. Would definitely recommend or stay again.

I love the environment that is surrounding the little cottage. Beautiful room and board. Small bathroom but it was rather quaint. Will come here again the next opportunity. Good food and great place to vacay. Recommend staying here for the Point Lobos Hike.

We chose Carmel River Inn for a girls weekend get away. The cottage was so cute and perfect for us. The porch was nice for morning mimosas and painting. We loved that we weren't sharing walls with anybody. The room included microwave, toaster, real dishes, and a dishwasher. All of the dish cleaning supplies were there as well. There was a coffee pot (the real kind, not pods) and they made sure we had enough coffee. Staff was super friendly and the grounds were lovely. The only negative is that we did get some ants looking for water in the evening.

The rooms are very dated. My room did not look like the photos which I always check so I know what I’m getting. Very outdated, old, felt like grandmas basement…and was definitely not worth the price. the staff was very friendly and helpful.

I recently stayed at the Carmel River Inn, and I must say that my overall experience was quite disappointing. While the inn itself is situated in a beautiful location and has the potential to offer a comfortable stay, there was one glaring issue that marred our visit. The major problem we encountered during our stay was the malfunctioning heater in our room. Given the premium price we paid for our stay, we expected all amenities to be in excellent working condition. Unfortunately, the heater did not function properly, leaving us in a cold and uncomfortable room. We had to resort to using a portable heater that was provided, which felt like a makeshift solution and not what we had anticipated for a stay at this price point. The fact that the heater was not working properly was not only inconvenient but also, in my opinion, entirely unacceptable. It's fundamental for any lodging facility to ensure that basic amenities like heating are in perfect working order, especially in a location like Carmel where cooler temperatures are common. While the surrounding area and ambiance of Carmel River Inn are undoubtedly charming, the experience was overshadowed by the discomfort caused by the heater issue. I would strongly urge the management to pay closer attention to the maintenance and functionality of amenities to avoid similar disappointments for future guests.
